I know this is a christmas song and I'm not very big on christmas but when I heard Josh Groban sing it, my heart just melted. It does that every time I hear Josh Groban sing. This song is from the Polar Express movie soundtrack. I hope those of you who are hurting can find something to believe in and hold on to.

Believe...Josh Groban

Children, sleeping.
Snow is softly falling.
Dreams are calling,
Like bells in the distance.
We were dreamers,
Not so long ago.
But one by one, we
All had to grow up.

When it seems the magic slipped away...
We find it all again on Christmas Day.

Believe in what your heart is saying,
Hear the melody that's playing.
There's no time to waste,
There so much to celebrate.
Believe in what you feel inside,
Give your dreams the wings to fly.
You have everything you need, if you just believe.

Trains move quickly
To their journey's end.
Destinations...
Are where we begin again.
Ships go sailing,
Far across the sea.
Trusting starlight,
To get where they need to be.

When it seems that we have lost our way...
We find ourselves again on Christmas Day.

Believe in what your heart is saying,
Hear the melody that's playing
There's no time to waste,
There so much to celebrate.
Believe in what you feel inside,
And give your dreams the wings to fly.
You have everything you need, if you just Believe.

If you just believe.
If you just believe.
iIf you just believe...just believe...just believe.

Ya'll aren't going to believe this, but this is one of "my" songs. It appeals to my narsicistic side. Music Thread~~~How a Song has Affected you~~ I'm not going to post the whole thing because it's too long, but here's two verses.

Yellow Rose of Texas (that's me, of course!)

There's a yellow rose in Texas, that I am going to see,
Nobody else could miss her, not half as much as me.
She cried so when I left her, it like to broke my heart,
And if I ever find her, we nevermore will part.

She's the sweetest little rosebud that Texas ever knew,
Her eyes are bright as diamonds, they sparkle like the dew;
You may talk about your Clementine, and sing of Rosalee,
But the yellow rose of Texas is the only girl for me.

YYEEEEEEEEEEEEEHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! Git along little dowgies!

Oh yeah? Music Thread~~~How a Song has Affected you~~ I can top that!

I was born in Kansas, I was bred in Kansas
And when I am married, I'll be
Wed in Kansas
To my true blue gal, and I can't hardly wait
She's my sunflower, from the Sunflower State
She's my sunflower, she's my one flower, she's the flower of my heart
She's my sunflower, she's my one flower, and we'll never, ever part.

<taking a bow> Thank you, thank you very much. I learned that in first grade for Kansas Day. Music Thread~~~How a Song has Affected you~~

LOL Yeah... but everything in Texas is bigger and better! Music Thread~~~How a Song has Affected you~~

Um... does your town have a song named after it? Ahem! Music Thread~~~How a Song has Affected you~~

Out in the West Texas town of El Paso
I fell in love with a Mexican girl
Nighttime would find me in Rosa's cantina
Music would play and Feleena would whirl

Blacker than night where the eyes of Feleena
Wicked and evil while casting her spell
My love was deep for this Mexican maiden
I was in love, but in vain I could tell

One night a wild young cowboy came in
Wild as the West Texas wind
Dashing and daring, a drink he was sharing
With wicked Feleena, the girl that I loved

So in anger
I challenged his right for the love of this maiden
Down went his hand for the gun that he wore
My challenge was answered in less than a heartbeat
The handsome young stranger lay dead on the floor

Just for a moment I stood there in silence
Shocked by the foul, evil deed I had done
Many thoughts raced through my mind as I stood there
I had but one chance and that was to run

Out through the back door of Rosa's I ran
Out where the horses were tied
I caught a good one, it looked like it could run
Up on its back and away I did ride

Just as fast as
I could from the West Texas town of El Paso
Out to the badlands of New Mexico

Back in El Paso my life would be worthless
Everything's gone in life, nothing is left
It's been so long since I've seen the young maiden
My love is stronger than my fear of death

I saddle up and away I did go
Riding alone in the dark
Maybe tomorrow a bullet will find me
Tonight nothing's worse than this pain in my heart

And at last here
I am on the hill overlooking El Paso
I can see Rosa's cantina below
My love is strong and it pushes me onward
Down off the hill to Feleena I go

Off to my right I see five mounted cowboys
Off to my left are a dozen and more
Shouting and shooting I can't let them catch me
I have to make it to Rosa's back door

Something is dreadfully wrong for I feel
A deep burning pain in my side
Though I am trying to stay in the saddle
I'm getting weary, unable to ride

But my love for
Feleena is strong, and I rise where I've fallen
Though I am weary I can't stop to rest
I see the white puff of smoke from the rifle
I feel the bullet go deep in my chest

From out of nowhere Feleena has found me
Kissing my cheek as she kneels by my side
Cradled by two loving arms that I'll die for
One little kiss and Feleena, goodbye

Mad World, Gary Jules

All around me are familiar faces
Worn out places
Worn out faces
Bright and early for the daily races
Going no where
Going no where
Their tears are filling up their glasses
No expression
No expression
Hide my head I wanna drown my sorrow
No tomorrow
No tomorrow
And I find it kind of funny
I find it kind of sad
The dreams in which I’m dying are the best I’ve ever had
I find it hard to tell you
I find it hard to take
When people run in circles its a very very
Mad world
Mad world
Children waiting for the day they feel good
Happy birthday
Happy birthday
And I feel the way that every child should
Sit and listen
Sit and listen
Went to school and I was very nervous
No one knew me
No one knew me
Hello teacher tell me what’s my lesson
Look right through me
Look right through me
And I find I kind of funny
I find it kind of sad
The dreams in which I’m dying are the best I’ve ever had
I find it hard to tell you
I find it hard to take
When people run in circles its a very very
Mad world
Mad world
Enlarging your world
Mad world

This song is really sad and makes me really depressed

The Eyes Of Texas

The Eyes of Texas are upon you,
All the live long day..
The Eyes of Texas are upon you,
You cannot get away.
Do not think you can escape them,
At night, or early in the morn..
The Eyes of Texas are upon you,
Till Gabriel blows his horn!

LOL It is the Texas Ranger's theme song, now that I think about it! Hardly ever watch the show so I wasn't aware that they play it. Now I'm gonna make sure I watch it!

Lord!! I think I'm regressing!! I've been listening to music in Spanish all day long!! Music Thread~~~How a Song has Affected you~~ Never really liked it, much less "S*it kicker" music! But Cielito Lindo is playing right now. ::: shaking head pensively ::: Sometimes I think I'm slipping back into the past... or back to the future?? Has my mother taken over my body?? YIKES!! Don't want to be my mother! Don't know, but my soul has been at peace all day, even with love songs that usually rip your heart open. Hmmm...

Now it's "You Belong To My Heart" but in Spanish:

Augustin Lara, English lyrics by Ray Gilbert

You belong to my heart
Now and forever
Though our love had it's start
Not long ago

Well we were gathering stars
And a million guitars
Played our love song

When I said I love you
Every beat of my heart
Said it too

Was a moment like this
When I first found you
And your eyes threw a kiss
When they met mine

Now we own all the stars
And a million guitars
Are still playing

Now you are a song
And you'll always belong
To my heart

Now you are a song
And you'll always belong
To my heart

Nah! Words aren't the same. Doesn't cut it for me.

All Been Said Before by Matt Nathanson

this is how i'm feeling tonight.....
=======

I am
held together by clothespins
and tension,
a wealth of odds and ends
I'm dazzling, so dazzling
like the neon street sign
hiccuping off and on again all night
long
Well I've got magazine friends
and enough jealousy to lose them all
But I know this has all been said before

I shed what
what escape my fiction provided
I lived a lifetime inside of my shelter
and I thought it about time to see outside
And I believed it was easy,
stupidly thought I could just get up and walk away
But I know this has all been said before
I know this has all been said before

I've got illness
hugging me like skin
and I'll shed it clean till I can taste the oxygen

But I know
This has all been said before

This might seem late but I just wanted to say that I used to listen to that Sarah Mclaughlin CD over and over again when I was having a really hard time in highschool. It is amazing. Thanks for the good thoughts I am going to listen to it right now.

It's never too late to post on this thread. I am just amazed at how much we all love music and how much it means to us......I'm glad it stirred up things for you. I think we grow when we give to one another and I feel that a lot of people have given me something on this thread. Hope I'm returning the favor. Pat

Thanks for the thread, Pat!

I don't know that this song has changed my life or anything, but everytime I hear it, I think of my T and it makes me feel good to know he's there for me.

Everything
Alanis Morissette

I can be an a$$hole of the grandest kind
I can withhold like it’s going out of style
I can be the moodiest baby and you’ve never met anyone
who is as negative as I am sometimes

I am the wisest woman you've ever met.
I am the kindest soul with whom you've connected.
I have the bravest heart that you've ever seen
And you've never met anyone
Who's as positive as I am sometimes.

You see everything, you see every part
You see all my light and you love my dark
You dig everything of which I'm ashamed
There's not anything to which you can’t relate
And you’re still here

I blame everyone else, not my own partaking
My passive-aggressiveness can be devastating
I'm terrified and mistrusting
And you’ve never met anyone as,
As closed down as I am sometimes.

You see everything, you see every part
You see all my light and you love my dark
You dig everything of which I'm ashamed
There's not anything to which you can’t relate
And you’re still here

What I resist, persists, and speaks louder than I know
What I resist, you love, no matter how low or high I go

I'm the funniest woman you've ever known.
I am the dullest woman you've ever known.
I'm the most gorgeous woman you've ever known
And you've never met anyone as, as everything as I am sometimes.

You see everything, you see every part
You see all my light and you love my dark
You dig everything of which I'm ashamed
There's not anything to which you can’t relate
And you’re still here

And you’re still here
And you're still here...

" Touch, Feel & Lose "
Ryan Adams
( Gold )

I knew I was never gonna talk to you tomorrow
And oh, the birds how they sing
If you were a bird could you sing me a song of sorrow
'Cause all I know from you is grief
But I never wanted to be your rolling train

I never wanted to be your dancin' shoes
I just wanted you to love me
I just wanted you to love me
Touch, feel & lose
And cry, cry, cry

I thought maybe I could be some kind of shelter
But oh, your storm how it raged
You know your kisses, they like lightnin' and thunder
And your smile is sweet and come down like rain

I never wanted to be your dancin' shoes
I just wanted you to love me
I just wanted you to love me
Touch, feel & lose
And cry, cry, cry
I just wanted you to love me, honey
Cry, cry, cry

This is a picture of my marriage.............p
