I very much welcome the introduction of the new support groups ,but noticed how there is little accomodation for those of us who are ready to go to bed,or asleep when these groups are on.

I understand though that these groups require individual members voluntry effort, and that this would limit the "pool" of potential volunteers from non USA members, but I think that this post is worth noting though, and would appreciate any views from those of us who may well be asleep, when these important support chats are on! better inclusion for non USA members...??

Thank you for your feedback.

While we recognize these issues (and hence why I started the Thursday Q&A sessions at 3pm in the afternoon here in the U.S.), we are reliant on volunteers stepping forward to host the chat on a weekly basis.

There's nothing we can do outside of asking for additional volunteers as time goes by...

maybe having volunteers in the U.K. for example would help. being that other counties could host their own chats even though of course it would be open to everyone. i would love to volunteer but i cant. i dont have my own computer but if i did i would love to.
hope you find who/what you need doc. best of luck.

Thanks psych16m and Docjohn,

Yes, this is the problem,- who's availiable from a smaller "pool" of members, further out the central time-zone,so, for example, i am unable to commit myself at the moment unfortunatley, due to unsettled living conditions, but my spirit is there, come a change in circumstances.
Given time, I hope, as things evolve and develope, this "time gap" , may well be filled,in what is already a very helpful and friendly community.

Thanks for the feedback!

Even for some USA members mornings would be ideal as family commitments can take up the evening hours... But kudos to all the volunteers & of course, they have to pick what works best for them.--Suzy P.S. I'm hoping I might be able to try to get to the DBT since I just started that last week & the Bipolar since I started that about 40 years ago! You'd think I'd be an expert by now in the bipolar dept.

some of us tried really hard, alevin, to make times for the chats that would suit the USA and the UK

we are in Australia, so the times tend to be even worse for us better inclusion for non USA members...?? better inclusion for non USA members...??

why don't you post here, converted into site time, the times that would best suit UK members ?

Thanks Zorah,

The more feedback like yours is good,I see what you are meaning,
and just reminds me that its is just going to be a case of what can work out the best,at the end of the day.---- it was more the support chat group times, that I meant though, but I appreciate what you say about posting.

Thanks for your feedback Zorah,

best wishes,

alevin

we WERE talking about the Support Group times, alevin better inclusion for non USA members...??

The DD support chats, which we are leading, have been scheduled for site times of 10pm Monday & 8am Tuesday, in an attempt to find times that would suit most members.
If neither of these times seems suitable to you, for UK members, we would be most grateful if you could post the range of site times you would consider suitable for UK here.

The trouble is that time zones around the world range one hell of a lot... Two hours ahead here, two hours ahead there, New Zealand is 12 hours time difference from England - you don't get much different to that!

I guess it depends on the demographics of where most people are from... But then balancing that with when people want to chat. For example, I quite like chatting late at night (for me) which means I can catch people who are up fairly early (for them). When I visited the US... That was when I realized just how inconvenient the 'peak posting hours' REALLY were for me lol.

That being said, I hope you figure out something for a time that is convenient for you to chat :-)

me too :-)

i actually don't mind that usually (being a late night person myself). My main issue is that my firewall blocks the chat.

Hi Alevin,

I'm from England so I'm on the same timezone as you better inclusion for non USA members...?? so I recognise the difficulties in finding a suitable support chat time. I do think, however, that people HAVE tried hard to be inclusive, however it is just not possible to accommodate everyone, of course, so it is far easier to accommodate to the majority. I know that one chat leader spent a lot of time working out the times to try to target the US audience and the UK audience. We, as UK members, just have to accept that on an American site we ARE a minority and because of the time difference it is hard for them to always find a suitable time - not just for UK members but for international members. Perhaps you yourself could set up a chat for the UK people? better inclusion for non USA members...??
