This was a rather interesting article I found on CNN:

http://www.cnn.com/2008/TECH/07/15/b...ef=mpstoryview

Could this all really take place, will Nanotech truly be the ullimate driver of the nextr stage of our evolution?

what do you guys think?

I think that my life is complicated enough as it is with my mental illness and life in general brings enough of its own challenges day to day for me to worry about things like this. The future of mankind?

I don't believe in evolution. I believe in You-Know-Who. The future of mankind? (The One who must not be spoken of here.)

I am not actually sure what this article had to do with either concept of past existence, but we all are entitled to our beliefs The future of mankind?

Take care

I'm certainly not affraid of it. LOL I have as many techi gadgets as I can afford but it's just to make my life easier. I don't worry about it. If it's iffy to me, I just don't go there. The future of mankind?

This sounds scary Tim ...... way back when, people would never have dreampt you could get money from a hole in the wall, or machines that would fly in the air ....... anything is possible IMHO. Something to think about ......

I understand, in the end however are we not just machines ourselves? Just of flesh rather than metal? I have never understood the difference between repairing someone with transplanted organs, or replacement limbs and augmenting a healthy person, to become smarter, stronger, more agile, healthier etc.

I do believe that ultimatly we will be succeeded by a hybrid species of man and machine, its inevitable. I think biologically we are now at a dead end with no where to go. It is now time for a superior form to emerge. It is hard to grasp for many people, because of religious or spirtiual beliefs, but I do not think there is any stopping of the process. History only moves forward. Those who think they can reverse all of this and take us back to a "simpler" time are sadly delusional, again my opinion.

on another note .... people who have lost limbs now have the brilliant technology you are talking about to replace them, hands that can move like real hands ..... artificial legs etc are improving all the time.... we couldn't live without technology .... however in an ideal world going back to the simpler style of living appeals to me, if only we could combine the two for the purpose of goodness .... and not ruin the planet in the process ... just my thoughts ... I guess there's always been and will always be darkness and light. The H-bomb ended a war and probably saved millions of people. No sane person wants to ever see anything like that used again.

The future of mankind? Are you sure your reply was for me? The future of mankind?

If you merely meant evolution as a progress of things to come, well that's different. However, it isn't really so much in our future as here now. Science and technology has been invading and complimenting and studying the human body for decades already. I have a doctor friend who began teaching other doctors about the nano-robots physically mapping human brains back in the 80s (not to mention Jarvik.)

It's quite interesting though. Sorry you didn't get my drift earlier.

A-bomb. No H-bomb has been used in war. They are much more powerful than the original A-bombs.
