Clyde,

If you have not already done so, yes, I would cite a reference and indicate that a sample size of 8-10 is suggested for a phenomenological research study due to the volume of data collected for each participant. You can actually cite Dr. Klein's dissertation and the look at the references she cited for number of participants in a phenomenological study.

Please revise this and send back to the committee along with the Dissertation Rubric which is attached. Indicate that if they are willing to proceed to the oral defense conference, we can work with the week of August 25 if they can give you days/ times that are convenient for them. The oral conference can take 60-75 minutes. You may want to look at the attached rubric and evaluate your own dissertation proposal, as this is what the committee will be looking at.

You will need to develop a power point presentation that takes about 30 minutes to present your dissertation proposal, and then the committee will have another 30 minutes to ask questions and make suggestions.

Thanks,
Dr. Jay

What this means, is basically my proposal is about done and fini. It still needs form and style once the orals are done, and the IRB, but I am very close to ABD, at least Almost Orals Time...

Closer than ever. Getting tired of saying it, but I am closer than ever Almost Orals Time...

That's some great help you're receiving there! I am sure it's a sampling of what they have provided in guidance. Wish I had had that much. Almost Orals Time...

You get to make a power point presentation too! How kewl is that? Of course, there was no such thing back in my day. Almost Orals Time... And it makes up nearly half of the time too! Almost Orals Time...

The q & a really isn't so terrible because all this is so fresh in your mind as you have lived and breathed it for HOW LONG??? Almost Orals Time...

Keep reminding yourself (begin now so it's a habit) Speak Slowly! It makes you look less anxious, and more contemplative. Almost Orals Time...

Yes, thank you, I am so glad that I do have the chance to get guidance, even though it gets aggravating with all the corrections sometimes Almost Orals Time...

Powerpoint is cool, but I am nervous about the speaking slowly, all that stuff Almost Orals Time...

Maybe I should become more "hillbillish" than I am already?
