As some of you know I moved out of state. I've been working on getting medical issues such as picking out new doctors all taken care of. So I found a family doctor and he referred me to a psychiatrist to take care of my bipolar meds.

Well, Its been over a month and I still don't have an appointment to see the psychiatrist. I called the place right away and they said I had to see a counselor first eventhough my doctor reffered me and even though I've already seen a psychiatrist in the past. So I went to the counselor and she did all the standard questions. Then she said I had to see her again in a week before I could make an appointment to see a psychiatrist.

So I went to that appointment yesterday and I still can't make an appointment the with the psychiatrist. And she keeps saying how its a long wait to see the psychiatrist. Not because of the process of seeing her but because they are scheduled about a month out. Well, if that's the case why doesn't she just schedule that appointment now and see me during the wait.

Now the most frustrating part is yesterday she said I had to come back in two weeks and she still wouldn't schedule me to see the pdoc. So in two weeks I just might be able to schedule the appointment to see the pdoc. That means its going to be another month and a half before I see the pdoc.

I'm pretty sure I need a med adjustment seeing as I just started them back in march and have been slowly increasing the lamictal. The last Pdoc said we weren't done. So it will have been five months since the last time I saw a Pdoc.

Ouch.....that's a difficult situation to be in ((((((((((( unpredictable )))))))))

Would it be possible to go back to your MD and explain the situation to him/her and ask for help until you get to see the pdoc? If your MD has your records from the last pdoc, he/she can even phone your other pdoc for info if needed to help you with your med issue. Once in to see the new pdoc, your MD can then stop prescribing.

I sure hope you get in soon to the new pdoc....things like this really boggle my mind sometimes *sigh*

Wishing you well!

well the good thing is that i haven't been completely without meds. my doc just prescribed what i was already taking.

That's a good idea about my doc, unfortunatley he doesn't have my records yet. I should have had them sent but when he referred me at my first appointment I didn't think it would be an issue so I didn't even bother and he didn't ask for them.

Ahhh well I'm glad you are not without your meds....even if they need to be adjusted....I hope you are able to see at least a little benefit at this time. As with most healthcare issues....they sometimes are frustrating to get them taken care of in what we believe the timeframe should be.....we want it done yesterday!! LOL

Hang in there.....things will even themselves out frustrated

Yeah, the reason I've been hoping to get the adjustment sooner than later is that I'm having a lot of trouble falling asleep again. And sleeping in is not an option. Well anyways, its not like I can change anything so I'll just have to wait.

Sorry that you're having such a rough time getting into see a pdoc. It does seem crazy to me that they won't even let you schedule an appointment.

Can you when you do get to schedule ask to be put on a cancellations list so that you'll get in earlier, if anyone cancels their appointment.

Good luck.
