My landlord came by today and looked at my dishwasher that I broke when I passed out the other day. I passed out because one of the meds I take to help me sleep is actually a blood pressure med and it lowers your blood pressure. Well sometimes I guess it lowers my blood pressure too much. Sunday night I passed out twice and the first time when I passed out I hit my dishwasher as I hit the ground. Well the landlord says the dishwasher has to be replaced. I'm not sure how to pay for it as I'm on disability and all my money goes to my monthly bills and I end up having to borrow from my parents every month just to get by. My dad is having a freak out and is telling me he is reluctant to give me the money because I should have known better than to be up and about after taking my meds...umm I was thirsty. But that is beside the point. So if any of you have any ideas on how to pay for my dishwasher I would be open to it.

My dishwasher Just HOW did you break a dishwasher? I mean, what has to be fixed on it? I can't imagine the whole thing needing to be replaced as you can replace knobs, doors... and what else is there that you could have hit? I think you can just tell the landlord not to bother since you can do without it and take care of it whenever you move out. In the meantime, find a service guy to check it out for free maybe? And get a real analysis of what's wrong with it.

Hope you're feeling better.

The door needs to be replaced as that is what I hit as I went down. My landlord says it would cost the same to replace the door as it would to replace the whole unit.

Can you tell him about your situation and ask if you can pay him monthly, along with your rent? Maybe an extra $25 or whatever?

Um that just doesn't sound right. Why not call the maker of your dishwasher, or contact them online and ask about getting a replacement door for your model. Did you destroy the electronics in it or something, or just bend the hinges ? Sorry, sounds to me like the landlord is trying to get you to buy him a new dishwasher. My dishwasher

Sounds like a shifty landlord to me. Is he/she responsible for the dishwasher? Check over your lease carefully. If so, then you don't have to pay a dime.

The other option would be to wash dishes in the sink, if you are able to (perhaps there's something I'm missing, but it isn't that hard once you get the hang of it).

An idea, if you insist on replacing it instead of repairing... go to the local habitat for humanity store and get one. My dishwasher
