Understand the fears Zorah. Change is hard here too. I am breathing for now until I can see the change is good. I know it's good, but so understand the confusion. It will be okay Zorah, one step at a time. My anxiety rose a lot, but I think it will be okay once we get used to it. We'll probably even like it better.

A Question though Kd or Doc: It says we have only until Wednesday to make sure we have everything copied from old forums. Is it possible to keep it until Friday? Might take some of us a few more days to stop panicking long enough to notice what didn't get copied.

Hey, hon.

You can do almost all of your personal experience through "My Profile" at the top left of the screen.

Go into your "My Profile" and click on "edit options". From there you'll see a "Private Messaging" Category:

Private Messaging
This forum features a private messaging system, which allows members to send messages to one another privately.

If you do not want to send or receive private messages, you may disable the private messaging system.
Enable Private Messaging

You may limit the receipt of private messages to just moderators and your contacts. Other members who attempt to send messages to you will be told that you have disabled private messaging.
Receive Private Messages only from Contacts and Moderators

The forum can send a message to your email address to inform you when someone sends you a private message.
Receive Email Notification of New Private Messages

If you are browsing the forums when you receive a new private message, the system can pop-up a notification box informing you of the new message.
Show New Private Message Notification Pop-up

One of these options has a click where you can receive a pop-up notification of a new email. That's what I use with this system. It's what alerts me to a new PM without watching the PM count or actually going in to check physically (since we don't have a flag here as we did at the old forums). You might want to do that until we get something better or get used to it?

You can also elect to have an email sent to you of your private messages.

Everyone:

Please go into your "My Profile" page first and look at *everything* it has to offer and make it personal to your wants and needs, then if you can't find something or have a problem changing it, let us know.

I have to tell you, I went through a conversion, or update like this several years ago on another large site, and it was (and still is!) a disaster!!

This PC move was accomplished with little interruption and with great success! The forethought and planning are evident in the success of the move!
