Qs @ user names

My user name is actually shortened from my penname Obsidiantears. But people usually call me Obsidian or Obsids or Obs. Obsidian is volcanic glass, usually black, but it can be mahogany or clear or brown or flecked with white. It is black, dark, but transluscent, like my eyes, like my life, like my soul. It was my favorite rock as a child... the one rock that I was drawn to more than anything else.

I chose this user name because, at the time I joined (and now) I was taking things one day at a time. The 2 is just because someone somewhere else had already picked it. *gasp* How dare they!?

Everywhere else on the net I go by h0kieerin. And much like candybear...I'm a Hokie and my name is Erin. lol

I LOVE obsidian! It was my favorite rock as a child, too. I really liked snowflake obsidian, too. But my favorite was just straight black.

I think all the names are very creative and meaningful. It would be hard for me to pick "favorites" after hearing how and why people chose. Ozzie -- do you think you could find the other thread about user names and bring it back up to the top of the list for we who weren't here then to read?

I hope more people will respond. I am soooo glad that I asked these questions.

I think there is a real brilliance to the availability of so much personal expression in all of this, the names, the icons, the signatures, all of it. There seem to be as many approaches to it all as there are people involved. Some are straight forward, others humoruous. Levels of anonymity are easily established and maintained. So many fun conversations come out of analyzing eachother's names and icons. It's wonderful. How many of us would feel as comfortable in a real world "room" where costumes were available at the door? Wouldn't even happen. I have trouble getting out to my front porch much less going somewhere. Anyway, excellent conversation, and another way to learn about eachother and how to be together at least in some sense.

I finally got back to read all of the answers to this thread. How interesting they all are. And zenhussy as someone with agoraphobia I think your comment was a blast! It is a great day when I can laugh at my problems, instead of always feeling bad about them. Thank-you so much for the smile : )
