I was just messing around in the quizzes and I scored a 77 on this Adult ADD screening....geez it says I have ADD but that's crazy! Not really but it would make sense because I have trouble concentrating on anything! Sometimes when I go to read something, if it's not short I skip it and go on to something else. I just can't sit! Should I ask my pdoc about it? I don't know. He doesn't know how bad my concentration is...

Ah, well, the scruples of mental health! Whatever that's supposed to mean. Ha! I don't even know. It's just another one of my ramblings...

I scored literally off the chart on that adult ADD quiz. But I asked MY pdoc, and he said it's the disease du jour and that for it to apply, you have to have had the symptoms in childhood, too.

Hope that answers your question.

disease du jour? Wow they said that about PTSD, fibromyalgia... and all sorts of things that are pretty well documented now. I think I would ask a different doctor for help! (But yes, they say you disply such tendencies in childhood... not necessarily dx'd then.)

I scored 70 on that. Oh, and I guess that maybe I did display symptoms as a child, since I couldn't ever finish my work in school like I was supposed to. I read everything on all of the walls, got up and wandered around - wouldn't stay in my seat. They sent me to special ed. for that as well as poor coordination in second grade. My third grade teacher sat me down and had a talk with me about that I was smart enough to be in some advanced groups, but it was no good if I wouldn't pay attention and get my work done. A token and reward system was devised to entice me to get said work done. My fourth grade teacher thought that yelling at me in front of the whole class was a better plan. Hmm.

I thought I posted this somewhere... boredom in class does not constitute ADHD! LOL Sorry to hear you have terrible teachers Rap.

You guys are making me want to take that test to see if it scores me high because I am NOT ADD... but I am depressed, which causes lack of focus and for many ppl, agitation/anxiety.Adult ADD?

Sky,

I'd be interested in how you score on that quiz. I agree that there are plenty of things that could contribute to elevated scores there. When I took the test it was just after the period when I had been severely depressed and couldn't concentrate well enough to read for a couple of years. Also, those years in grade school that I described were during and after the period when I was being bullied, and there were other stressors that I'm only now identifying as having had an impact, such as my father being in Korea for two years, and the births of my two brothers (I have just recently realized that I think I was my father's favorite until he had sons, and then he preferred them over me). I have always traced the beginnings of my lifelong depression to that period. That was when I started self injuring also.

Ok. Sorry, I only scored a 10. NOT ADD. But we knew that, so what we can suspect is that the test is at least semi-accurate? Might be another avenue of healing you can research.Adult ADD?
