does anyone here know much about this form of tibetan buddhist meditation?
i just read about a study at Emory which claims it reduces inflammation and fights depression among those who practice compassion meditation most often.
i had tried some forms of standing meditation with tai chi, but i just didn't get it. I was more ill at the time though so relaxing was very hard for me.
i also did a month of yoga once and that seemed to help.
I am scared to try a form of meditation that is physically demanding because i am out-of-shape and my body hurts a bit.
i would love to hear any of our psy-cen citizens weigh in on this.
thanks

that guy in the first link you sent me is running his meditation course from a spa in thailand. in the photo on the website, he looks like harvey keitel in abel ferrara's 'the bad lieutenant.' i wouldn't want to mess with him
emory is a bit closer but right now the tibetians at emory are. teaching compassion meditation to patients with cancer. bull goose looneys like us will have to wait our turn.
thanks for the heads-up

Have you read any books by Pema Chodron? That is a good place to start, I think.

i am only a student p, but compassion meditation can be performed whether active or seated... it can be done by any individual with a conscious being.. think about compassion.. what does it mean to you? let yourself feel it... breathe compassionately... the breathe is made of only compassion for you, for others, for all...

no action required but later you will feel invigorated and alive.. you will want to connect with others and feel compassionate....

by meditating you give energy to thought... thought gives energy to action..

by meditating deeply and consistently one may train the inner energy to be an aspect of the one whole....

just thoughts of a student.. love all..
Thanks for this!
