MAL: I have long suspected you are Vulcan. How nice it is, every time I encounter such an organized and logical mind.
Thank you for interpreting my rather far-out humor.

Could you interpret for me one more time? I'm not afraid of being misunderstood this time. I'm afraid of being understood all too well. So I'll leave it to you to do the honors. Parse this one out for all of us, please.

1. Angela asked for feedback on topic X.
2. Adieu, among others, gave feedback on topic X.
3. Within the context of Adieu's feedback on topic X are
two examples of humor. They were obscure enough that
not all persons perceived that the humor itself consisted
in the answers having a less-than-straightforward
relationship to topic X.
4. Angela asked Malady to explain one example of Adieu's
humor.
5. Malady did so, complying with Angela's request.
6. Sky chimed in, saying we were off-topic.

Q: Can Angela hijack her own thread by asking Malady
(online at the time perhaps) to explain what Adieu's posted
reply might mean?
Q: If Malady replies to Angela's request, explaining what the
posted reply means, has Malady hijacked Angela's thread?
Q: If Sky then interrupts the thread, stating it's off-topic, has Sky
actually hijacked Angela's thread in order to use it as a
protest against any commentary on Adieu's humor?
Q: Would the thread have continued as usual, if Sky had not
interrupted?
Q: Had the thread about run its natural course anyway?
Q: Is this all a tempest in a teapot?

Adieu

I got it too, though it's a bit depressing

I'm not sure about the answers to those questions , but I really liked the graphic. I don't think it's off topic at all, I think it's just a question was asked and a question was answered and it's just that simple.

Hoping you're all taking care,
Kimberly.

yeah (((Sweet)))) I didn't feel that you and I didn't KNOW what was meant by the prison food comment, just that we both had trouble fitting it into the THREAD! { I respectfully refuse the attack that I'm the problem here.}

I wish for you more assurance about who you are and confidence to be that!

~*~Sky~*~
I didn't feel that the comment was irrelevant to the thread, actually. I just wanted to understand what it meant, that's all.

~*~Adieu~*~
(sorry if spelled wrong, btw), I originally typed "prison food?" As a way of asking you what you meant by that. But I don't think you were online, so when Mal said she understood it, I wanted her to tell me what she thought it meant. And I don't think it was hijacking at all. I think it was discussion about something you said, and how it applies to me and my question. I think it was all very appropriate, although we have all collectively started to go in another direction now! lol! (Myself included) Anyway, thanks for your input on my thread. I appreciated your overall message, and what you had to contribute. Tell me...

~*~Angie~*~
You are all sweethearts, and I appreciate your kinds words to me. In truth, I was not looking for validation, although I do feel like that was mostly what I got. Tell me... And I really wasn't looking for confidence in being who I am. I was looking for feedback about whether or not I seemed to be better at getting to know other people than at letting them get to know me. That is a pattern I have identified in myself, and others (including my T, btw) have pointed out, and I wondered how I was doing with that here. I do appreciate your reassurances, though, and the spirit in which you offer them.

Thanks everyone, didn't mean to cause such a stir! lol!

Angela

Angie - I think you do offer a tremendous amount of support here. And I have also been around long enough to see you reach out for help too. I've seen threads where you are hurting, and sad, and regretful. I'm also sure you don't post ALL the times you've been hurting, sad, etc. But few do.

I think you are doing a wonderful job of using this forum as both a source of a support, and as a learning space for your future work. I think you use your T the same way. You have a wise, warm heart.

BIG HUGS to my wee pal Angie

SKY: No, I'm the problem here. My far-out humor is not received well. And I exacerbated the situation by trying (again with humor, and again badly) to show where it would lead if we all started pointing fingers at each other by choosing to apply legalistic or strict interpretations.

That wasn't meant as an attack on you, Sky. I guess it was my own utter frustration at being unable to design humor to meet the needs and expectations and interpretations of everyone in a particular audience.

Hmm, I thought it was funny but had a slightly different perspictive on it. I find my MH issues to be prision like and when I refuse to work on them I have to eat the prision food that staying ill affords me. My T often asks me, 'How much longer do you think you need to do that?'I always remember an old song called "One More Night with the Frogs" based on the Egyptian Pharoah's response to Moses. However I am not always ready to give up a behavior when it is the only way I have found to deal with things until I have found a new way that works for me. Tell me...
