Alright, I know that I am going to find out that I am a soap character or something and someone is writing incredible fiction which is my life. So all I can do is laugh. I coveted this little car my friend's wife drove. Toyota, great shape, had another 100,000 on it. My friend got sick and didn't get around to getting his wife a new car for a while but finally a few months ago I got it. I had been driving it but a few weeks ago somehow hubby and I switched and I got the van. Anyway, it's been very cold here. And yesterday he opened the oil tank and forgot to put the lid on. After all, he is a bit distracted. Arraignment, loss of job etc. well, he went to start the car today and the engine froze. No more car. He quickly figured out what he had done. I jumped out of bed and dressed, brushed teeth and grabbed an apple all within ten minutes and took him to work as he was late. I stopped at the mechanic (my new guy) and told him about it. He was pretty sure it was bad but thought it was worth towing it in to look at it. It is gone. During the day today hubby found out that since there were no charges filed against him at the arraignment, that he could keep his job for the rest of the school year. That was a relief because it would hurt the kids to lose him like that. Anyway, I had to tell hubby that the car was dead. He felt awful. I am laughing and saying it's not jail or death, it's a piece of metal. We paid $500.00 for it from my friend. So poor hubby walked about 2 miles to my daughter's work place and took her car home as I was 30 miles away retrieving the other daughter. We then drove BACK into town so that we could bring her her car so I wouldn't have to go out late. he is at play practice. We used to manage fine on one car? Spoiled huh? We live 17 miles from nowhere. And it IS funny. It is funny that life keeps throwing me these curve balls. It is hysterical. Roll and laugh and be greatful we are healthy and together.

I'm sorry, Wisewoman. Sounds like it was a great little car. But your're right. It's just a piece of metal. So glad your husband will keep his job for a while -- do you think The Powers That Be are rethinking the matter?

And so glad you are laughing.

Humor is the best medicine....that's how I always coped through hard times anyway. Laughing is good for us! Have you seen the Blue Collar Comedy Tour? It makes me laugh my butt off, and I don't usually laugh outloud at tv!

Anyway...aside from the car, sounds like things are looking up. I'm glad!

Wow, I'd be struggling so much with the things that are happening in your life. You're an incredible person to be able to see the humor in it. Glad hubby gets to keep his job for the rest of the year. That's something, isn't it?

It is all good. Hubby is keeping job till June and we are thinking of how he can be an educator in a way that matters to him and fits his values. It's just money (she tells herself convincingly) He was not charged with additional stuff and gets to hopefully finish out his deferred sentence and we are going for a gubanatorial pardon. He did the car thing because he was way-stressed. I am trying to be silly about it all. So, we really can't be down a car and the garage we work with the guy had a truck we had been looking at for maybe after tax rebate? Well, we worked out a deal with him and I drove the truck tonight but it seems that when I go to start it it clicks when I turn the key 3-4 times before starting. So, starter, battery or ignition? Hmmm? I will drive in tomorrow and have him check it. Cheap truck but we need it to run. and for all of you canadians here, the speed is in kilometers and It took a while for me to figure it out. It's good to have a truck as we can ferry around our own broken down lawn machinery to the repair guy. also, I can put a ton of grain in it! That's amazing. It's a leap of faith as we are expecting a big tax refund, big enough to pay a little tuition for my son and the truck. Waiting for hubby's earnings statement so we can do taxes. Anyway, that's my life story. It is funny in many ways. Thanks for the support.

No more clicking. It was rusty brushes on the starter from sitting and is fine now. Pretty little truck. My friend and I held a slipper felting class today. It was work but fun. I think it was at least 60 miles from here. So, any canadians out there? Please tell me the formular for figuring out miles traveled vs. kilometers? I remember in 2nd grade they said we were going metric and had to learn it. Hasn't happened yet.

WW, I'd be so gone if it wasn't for humor. There is no way I would have made it to be 61, if I didn't find something funny in almost everything. I have to laugh or just let go. I understand you perfectly. I see humor in almost everything, everywhere..........xoxox pat

Okay, no laughing tonight. Hubby got a rude letter from his super and went overboard and went to his attorney and said; "put me in jail". I am treated like a criminal, lock me up. He is struggling and it scares me for in the past he has done stupid unprdicatable things. I told him it was a peeing contest and it didn't matter. I worry he will get whacked and do something like demonstrate at the court house or something.

I'm sorry to hear you're going through a rough time. BTW, I'm Canadian and I don't understand that dang metric system at all. Give me miles any day, forget those kilometers. Are you Laughing yet?

Okay Sky, two questions my little brain can't wrap around. If my truck has 85,000 kilos, how many miles is that? Give me a math equation here. Simple minds need to know. By the way I am off today. Been icky tummy and overwhelmed with work so I am home. Daughter "paged" me at 9:00 and I was sleeping. Somehow she was left sleeping and not brought to school. So I brought her and thought if I was still sleeping at 9:00 that I needed a day to myself. Thanks for your help.
