I am a student at a university right now. And I am swamped with work and I sometimes find myself avoiding my work. Even at the library where you think you can study better there, I find myself using the internet for fun. And I really can't afford it. I would really like to be more strict with myself and buckle down and I would like some support. If anyone would like to join me, that's great. We can support each other.

good for you! A good time control schedule will help you see if you really do have enough time to do what you need to, plus what you want to do.

You also need to determine if you are the kind of person that works better under pressure.

I am not. I do projects as soon as I can (I'm done with a project for a class that is due in March). However, girls I went to college with would start a project at 11 o'clock the night before because they felt they worked better under pressure.

I couldn't do that. Setting up a schedule and sticking to it is about all you can do. Can you work on a project with someone? That way they could keep you on track? Not do the project as a group, but work individually on your project together. Does that make sense? lol

IMNSHO -- Many people tell themselves they "work better under pressure." But it is really an excuse for not performing with excellence. When the job winds up half-baked, they can always say, "I could have done better if only I had more time." It may be used as an escape from having to face one's limitations, for one never has to admit: I did absolutely the best job I could have. And it still wasn't as good as someone else's/to win the contest/to earn the promotion/to get an A/to please my boss/my spouse/etc.

Well, today I slept through both my classes. I can't tell my parents (I live with them) because they'd flip out and start treating me like I was in high school. I'm going to try not to do that again for a while. (Get to sleep on time, set 2 alarms, that's all I can think of right now.)

I have decided to study in the library for 4 hours. (With breaks of course! So maybe it will go a little longer than 4) It's not nearly enough time to get everything done, but at least I'll get some stuff done.

Is there a reason you procrastinate? Mine's depression, which would be fixable if I wasn't so stubborn. :P

However you can fix it, I really hope you can. I can't offer any insight, cos trust me I'm bad bad bad procrastinator. XD Good luck on classes!

This problem has become the bain of my life. The internet or changing channels on the remote are far less complicated and require less energy than the piles of work waiting (and needing) to be done.

Today I went to class, and met with my fine arts discussion group TA about the upcoming test. Now I am going to read for a paper I have to write in religion. Does anybody else want procrastination support? I would be more than willing to give some in this thread. I understand if people don't reply though. For a long time I did not put this as my main priority. Also, I understand that a lot of people just come to forums like this in order to procrastinate (

Whaaa? I didn't click continue? Procrastination support OK as I was saying I guess I can't really say that of other people, becuase I am only one person. But that is why I am always at psychology sites. I think unconsciously, I want to feel like there's something wrong with me so that I don't have to get anything done and...live my life. I really feel that sitting in front of the computer reading other people's posts is like...a waste of my life. But I do it anyway. Well, I'm trying to cut back at least. I hope no one's offended about what I write. This is just my situation with psychology sites. I know that not everyone comes here for that same reason.

Gonna go study now!

Pfft. Life's long and it's fun to waste time. ^__~ As long as you enjoy what's your doing, then it's not really a waste.

Yay for paying attention! ^-^ w00t! Good luck on your paper.

Nice of you to offer. However, I have a full-time job supporting my own procrastination. I'm getting really good at it. No matter how simple a task is, I can still put it off until it gets me in rilly bad trouble. Practice makes perfect.
