Howdy Everyone!

I am very good at setting plans and having big ideas of what I want/need to accomplish in my day or life. I have difficulties following through with them.

Exercise is the biggest procrastination of all! Followed by the ever popular close second house cleaning!

Ideas? Suggestions?

I know where you're coming from. Instead of setting big goals for yourself like "Exercise" or "Clean the House", set much smaller goals that you can achieve. Something like, "Walk around the block" or "Dust the coffee table".

That may seem small, but those are the building blocks to the bigger goals. It's worked for me, anyway.

Yes, break them down into little specifics, And, I would add, reward youself when you accomplish something, even if it is only in words. (I prefer dark chocolate.) Little steps get there too.

I'm in the same place, too. Procrastination!
I can't even motivate myself anymore, I'm trying everything, any suggestions would be appreciated, I'm sure.

I use lists. It is so satisfying to cross things off the list. You can write things like Ben said: "dust coffee table" and "walk around block". Imagine your satisfaction when you mark through each one!

Hugs,

Jan

My house has not been touched. There is a load in the wash waiting for the dryer and there are ants and dishes to be done. I procrastinate and then get it done very quickly when time is running out.

I am the queen of procrastination!

Yeah, I make small goals, lists, all that stuff...I just figure I'll do it later. And the lists? I think about them but that's as far as it goes!

Why do I procrastinate so much? I can't peel myself away from the computer! I'm supposed to call Dell to get my computer fixed...I set goal over a week ago! It hasn't gotten done yet!

wi_fighter, Davey, and Azalysa beat me to the joke! LOL!

I'm a big procrastinator, but I've gotten better at not procrastinating. I try to make sure all major housework is done on Wednesday each week. I do stuff every day, sometimes just wiping things down and dusting, but if I haven't taken care of something by Wednesday, I try to make sure it gets done by then. I don't know why I bother vacuuming around Loki's (my bf's bird) cage, though, because as soon as I'm done, he tosses more of his food out of his cage, the little brat! LOL!

It helps to make a schedule, and force yourself to stick to it. I agree with the lists thing, too. Before I do housework, I make a mental list of what I'm going to do, what I'm doing first, in what order, etc. This is necessary because of my OCD, but planning also helps me get things done, because I know ahead of time what I need to do.

I'm not too bad when it comes to doing laundry. I put clothes in the washer as they get dirty, but if they need to be done before it gets full, I do them. But I don't separate colors or sort them too much.

I do the dishes after every dinner. My bf usually makes his own breakfast, usually cereal, and cleans his own stuff. I'm not often awake. If I am, I clean my own dish, or throw away the yogurt container. I hate doing dishes and want to get them done, LOL! Letting them sit makes them harder to wash. I rinse the especially dirty ones (like the ones that have sauce on them from spaghetti), because if they sit, the food dries on them, and is harder to rinse off. For stuff that coats or sticks (like rice), I fill the pan with hot-as-I-can-get-it water and let it sit while I eat or work on the other dishes. We use a non-stick pan for rice, but I still manage to get rice to stick to it, LOL! We don't use non-stick as a rule, because it can be deadly to birds, but my bf says there's less risk with Calphalon, and our bird has had no problem with it. However, we only have one such pan.

I've had plans to look for certain books in my plastic containers and get them out for several days now. I keep putting it off. Procrastination!
