Okay heres the scoop, as most of you know I'm the Director of a MH support/work center, one of our members has been going through real tough times and we have been able to keep her provider services up to date on problems, she has a payee and we allow her a credit line at our canteen, we also monitor her cigarettes, okay the problem now is that one of her workers has accused me of taking her money and not giving her the food items, the worker has verbally yelled at me saying I need to stay out of there business, if it wasn't for use she would be in a State Hosp. anyway, a friend of mine told me to write a letter to her supervisor, explaining how inappropriate she has been (this friend is a Judge) how can I make this letter sound professional (don't worry I have spell check) we believe she is treating me this way because I am a consumer
Need you all to brain storm with me
Angie

You do it, don't take this crap lying down. ERRR, I hate it when these;"helpers" can be so abusive. Just state the plain facts. On this date this occured, on this date this happened and this was said etc. At the end you put your concern clearly and ask for an aknlowlegement that they received your letter and what they plan to do about it? Good luck.

I agree that this 'worker' was out of line and inappropriate in her verbal confrontation to you. I would not take these accusations quiet as these are serious thing for her to accuse you of doing.

I would include in your letter the how the consumer support group plays a signifigant role in her mental health and in her welbeing. I would make a list of the progress she has made since joining your group and a 'run down' of the canteen purchases as well as the monitored cigarettes.

I would include if this verbal confrontation occurred in a private setting or if it was in the presense of others such as other consumers or a violation of the rights of your friend. I would suggest in the future if someone or a worker has a complaint like this that it needs to be in writing and turned over to his/her supervisor in order for review and if warranted, the Supervisor could then contact you about the concern.

I have a friend who is a patient in a state hospital and as a consumer, and on his contact list, there are many things they try to keep from me concerning his treatment and such.

If you can reveal some of the significant groups and activities she participates in at the support group and how they benifit her matnience in her wellbeing that I think would be good as well.

When they have a payee, seems it is like they (the payee) have alot of power as they hold the money over the person's head. You do have every right to be involved in her treatment especially if she has signed a release of information form for your involvement. I hope you the best and for this to be resolved. In benifit for both you and your friend.

Hi Angie, maybe I can help. If you would like to either post the letter or pm it to me, I would happily go so far as to completely reconstruct it for you if it should need, to be the letter you want. Your concern is plainly valid, and the documentation of it is imporrant. It sounds to me like a documentation of incident letter to me. But you could explain it all. Letter writing is something I can do. Especially someone "else's" letter. LOL. let me know if I can help.

First I would write the letter I WANT TO WRITE. Then, rewrite it, being polite and correct. THEN REWRITE it again, removing any "personal" type comments (this is one place "I" sentences don't work well...x

for example instead of saying," You need to know..." say something like, "It was suggested that you be informed of a situation that occurred..."

instead of saying ,"She accused me..." say something like, "This person implied that..."
