Hi, I'm sorry if this is posted in the wrong place.

I'm in highschool, and a girl I know (who has always been a bit strange) is clearly very sick. Here's the short rundown-
- She thinks she's a werewolf- although the term werewolf is insulting.
- Her "other half" is the wolf part of her who shares her body. This "other half" has her own name, her own voice, etc.
- A lot of her fantasies are based on the TV series Charmed. She claims that Charmed is based on real life.
- At night, she supposedly goes "hunting" for demons, so she may vanquish them.
- Her boyfriend, is 19, a "good" demon, and is undercover as a 25 year old cop so he can spy on the government, who is out to kill "their kind"
- Today she bit a friend of hers- literally bit down on her wrist and left a big red puffed out mark. Her friend didn't say anything but a close friend of both of them decided that something should be done- I went with her to guidence, our counselors weren't available, so we went to the nurse so the girl could have her hand checked out.
- later in class, the girl was crying because she was afraid she would get in trouble for biting someone, and she kept mumbling something about how the school is out to get "her kind."
- Then the girl proceeded to threaten whoever it was that reported the bite.

Ok so that wasn't so short. her fantasies go a lot more in depth than what I wrote though.

...

Should I just be leaving this alone, or should I try to get this girl help? The friend who went the the nurse with me, said she's known this girl since elementary school, they were best friends growing up, and when they entered high school, all these fantasies began. She didn't know what to do, so she went to her guidence counselor who put the girl in group- a support group for troubeled kids at school. From what I know, they sit around and discuss things such as drugs, parties, alchohol, violence, etc. It really is no help at all. We do have two school psycholgist- should I go straight to them? will they do something to help?

or should I just mind my own business?

She obviously needs some serious counseling, but know that you cannot do it for her, but you can support her emotionally as she goes through counseling if she will allow it.

Thanks for Caring...

I also live with a werewolf........but he is more a protector, an alter ego.

Knowing the difference between being one and having one as a imaginary friend that makes you do bad things are two different things.........I often think I'd love to be one but well thats just not possible....... I have done horrendous things in the past in the name of my werewolf........but there are consequences.

Your friend needs help to understand the pathology behind "wanting" to be one......and actually thinking she is one. It sounds like her behaviour is picking up momentum.......you are a good friend for wanting to help her but the path will be tough.......she will not let go easily.......you need help in your intervention.

If you wish to discuss how I "tamed" my friend, feel free to PM me......

Have faith.......she will be alright

bellax, i think your thoughts about seeing the school psychologist about your friend is a good one. you are a good friend to care. it can't hurt the situation, your conversation will be held in confidence and perhaps this psychologist can intervene to pursue your description of your friends' behavior. meanwhile being a support sysytem for your firend is good. i hope she will get the help she needs. thanks for posting your concerns and i hope my comments are constructive to your query.

It's all just really bizzare, because she completely and genuinely believes all of it. I asked her if she physically morphs into a werewolf, and she said she does when she hunts. At first I thought it might be just a case of DID, but she is fully aware of what each alter ego is doing. Like, the first day I met "Misty" , Brittany told me she couldn't bring Misty out because Misty was off teaching a class, but I wasn't allowed to know what the class was about. Then Misty came, and mentioned how Brittany would be angry because she was now stuck teaching the self defense class (against demons) and the next day, Brittany knew everything that had happened with Misty, as if they were both there. Still, Brittany told me in the past that she will black out, and that is when Misty takes over. Like, a few times, she blacked out to find herself in mid battle with a demon. brittany often changes her story but dodges any possiblity that she may not be telling the truth, and when she can't explain something, she'll just say "you just don't understand because you're not one of us" and later on she will come up with an explation, like a compulsive liar.
Micah- I understand what you mean, but Brittany just doesn't seem to understand that Misty is NOT a seperate entitiy- she truly believes that Misty is a werewolf, but Misty can't be seen by the human eye unless she takes over a human body, and she does that through Brittany. You're werewolf represents certain parts of you, the parts that have no regard for social norms, etc. But it is a part of you. Brittany thinks Misty is almost, a spirit that takes over her body. A totally seperate being residing within her.

Her friend, who has been with her since elementary school (the one i mentioned before) explained to me that Brittany has a lot of turmoil in her life. Her mom deals drugs, she's been raised by her grandparents all her life, and last year her grandfather died, often leaving her to care for her ailing grandmother. Her friend says she can understand why Brittany would want her alternate reality to exist, but she doesn't understand that it simpily does not exist.

To Brittany, everything exists. When Brittany first started talking about this, she was talking about how Misty tore up her friend's twilight book because Misty hates Vampires. Then I asked if vampires extist, like the cullen family, and she said yes, everything exist. and I said half jokingly "Even UNICORNS AND MERMAIDS!?!?!" And brittany laughed "Yeah Bell, They ALL exist" :/ I'm not sure the school psycholigist can even really help her right now. It may just convince her that the school and the government really ARE out to get her and that she should run off or something....

Thanks for all your help

*edit* oh yeah, and now its clear where Brittany got the name Misty- when we were kids and pokemon was "in" brittany was obsessed with the character Misty. Brittany would always insist on being called Misty whenever they played make believe games, and she would name all her dolls Misty, and she even named her cat Misty. Now, her alter ego is named Misty.

Maybe she is a member of the anthro/furry community? Part of the description sounds similar-that she believes she is a wolf. Anthro people believe they have an animal spirit-a "fursona"-in them, and a lot of them will draw/write about themselves as these animals.

But all the same if she is being violent to other people, it would be best for everybody that she sees someone about it. Why did she bite the other person?
Thanks for this!

Thank you. Maybe I was elusive in my description.......I also thought that I was "possessed".........that I would phase from human to werewolf during the hunt. I would also "black out" during my runs. I called them Demon Runs and they usually involved intense rage. I would wake up in hospital with my clothes torn and bloody and have no recollection of what I had done. Terrifying.

I believed that the Devil had sent my furry friend to destroy me........and he did a pretty good job......until I learn't to acknowledge, treat, accept and eventually love my other side and make peace with the fact that it was ALL me, not some demon sent by the devil. I did not have a name other than "he that shall be obeyed" and my werewolf was a big secret as the battle had to be done in isolation.

He is still with me.........but years of hospital, therapy and generous doses of anti-psychotics have helped me "mature" with him. He is more a protector now.........I am sure that was him all along.

Don't know if that helps........it is a very complex pathology that your friend has.......and often these manifestations come from a severe need of safety.
By the way......I also love vampires and have studied their mythology for years.......who says werewolves and vampires can't live in harmony!

Dear Bellax3,

I know one thing, that if I were ever in a foxhole, I'd want someone like you in there with me...

You are a compassionate, caring person.

If you follow your heart, you might do good things for others, and for yourself.

I hope this young person gets some clarification on what she is going through, and if it's serious, well, early detection is always better.

Peace and Courage,
Nightbird

xoxo
She thinks she's a wolf.
Thanks for this!
