HELP! HELP! HELP!
I am using my sons laptop right now as my computer was restarted lasted night after running very slow and then freezing up and now it will not upload at all when turned on, it stops on the boot up page..... is this hardware failure? - if not what can I do to get my computer up and running again. Thanks. |

I'm no expert but it sounds like your pc may have "caught" something. You would need to get the virus, worm or whatever removed from you pc. Unless you are lucky enough to know someone who can fix it, you could call Geek Squad if you have one around you, or look in the phone book for computer repair.

Yeah that is what I was afraid of.........
 My oldest son knows a computer guy that does all of Merriot's Computers for the company - I will see what he can do this weekend.... just hope I survive with out my computer when my son is at college during the day with his laptop. |

Thanks..... I just hate that I will probably lose all my pics that are on my main computer... I should of updated my pics cd last week, but I didn't.

Does any one know if rebooting the computer will work? - if I can even get it to that.

Maybe not. If they can just do virus removal, they may not have to erase everything - depending on how a nasty a bug you caught. Sometimes all you need to do is stop the virus loop so you can download or get to your internet security website, and have the virus removed and your computer scanned to make sure it's all gone.
I hope that's the case for you. I would hate losing all my pictures. You don't have them on another site, like Flicker or facebook or something?

If you have a virus or bug, it won't let you reboot. There is a way, when your pc is rebooting to and it tells you if you want to start in "safe mode" or something like that to hit F and then a number. You can do that. But you would need to know what you are doing to fix or change anything. Best to get someone who knows what they are doing. It's the bug you caught that won't let you reboot and get back on.

I have some of my pics on Myspace.... but not all of them and I have last years pics uploaded to a CD - but I had not gotten around to updating the CD for this years pics.

This suggestion may seem a long shot...but.have you tried to blow out the dust from out of your system?
I've gone through many system crashes..and was able to fix them all (various reasons...all same results..system runs again). Any pics on Myspace are server saved....they'll be there once your system is running again. The only thing that is in jeopardy of losing is what is on your harddrive....IF that's the case. If you haven't received any help from anyone yet, pm me, and I"ll do what I can to help you out. Shangrala
