I got an email about Cleo, my brothers great dane just a little bit ago. After 6months of looking for her we were told some bad news, to graphic to talk about here. Just can't either right now. This email was from someone through petfinder.com where cleo was listed as lost. This person asked if i could send a picture. They said they have been fostering a great dane since Nove of 2005 and she just found the pic on petfinder and she looks exactly like Cleo. She said she answers to the name.

I emailed her back with the picture and asked alot of quiestions. Then i forwardd the email to some of the volunteers that helped back during those 6 months.

I'm waiting to hear back. But i really dont think its her. I can't let my hopes up casue they are always knocked down. I can't calm down. ive been shaking since the email.

I need someone to talk me threw this right now. Help me make sense of it. There is so much going through my head. Its a waiting game again. Like the so many we had back then. My stomach is so upset.

I put a trigger, cause i dont know if this would trigger someone. I know it does me. I'm back to that time again.

I had to attach the picture of cleo. I'm sorry that i did this. I dont even know if i did it right, so it might not even be here.

I've spoken with three of the volunteers that helped in the beginning. They all have connections and they are now working on finding out what exactly is going on. As usual we want to see pictures of the Dane she does have. There are certain markings that cleo has and a small lump on her right side. There telling me to calm down too. All three told me that someone has been contacting lost pet owners and telling them what this person has told me. So, its pretty much in their hands right now. They said they will email or call me by tonite and tell me what they have gotten so far.

I had to go put that damn mouthguard in. I'm grinding my teeth so bad right now im giving myself a headache. lol

(((seeker))))((((notz)))))(((((gimmieice)))))) Thank ya'll so much for helping here. I'm working on being calm, but i'm sure ya'll can imagine.

When i hear something I will post and let ya'll know.

((((((((((((Chalmette))))))))))) Does slow, deep breathing help? Maybe you can concentrate on that for a bit to calm down. I'm so sorry you were triggered and so hoping it's Cleo. Please keep us posted. Take care.

(((wantto))))and ((((nightbird))) thank you

I havent gotten a return email from this foster parent yet. I have heard from Kathy and them. From what i'mm being told by Kathy is that Stealth is checking with the animal sanctuary on the northshore. After the storm 5 Danes went through there. But we had already chcked those out back then. One of those Danes, the only picture they had of her listed was far away being washed. She went to a foster parent and another volunteer helping me contacted that foster parent. That foster gave alot of trouble. It took over a month to get her to release more pics of the dane she had. And the volunteer helping me, i found out had to pay her for those pictures. Debbie said thats the only way we would have gotten the pictures. She said that foster wasnt budging and pretty much trying to kidnap that dane. From what i'm getting out of Kathy and them is that this dane is now suspicious again. I dont know how, i saw the pics and it wasnt cleo. And this ladies name was Mary not Jenny.

They are working with Noah's wish to. Alot of volunteers came out of there and were first responders to the animal rescues. Thing is they would spray paint on a house or building where the animal was found that it was rescued and where he/she was taken. My brother says Cleo would not have moved from that spot, she would have stayed there waiting for him to come back. She would not have gone back to the house. The first day we were allowed back that was the first thig we did was go look for Cleo. At Mutts Restaurant where Cleo was, there wasnt any message left about her, only a poodle. We all got out the truck and walked blocks around Mutts searching for her, but she wasnt there. She wasnt at his house or in his neighborhood either. We checked the animal rescue set up in the old shipbuilding parts sheds and they had no record of even one dane coming through there. They said every animal was cleaned, tagged, pictured and put on a plane to a foster. We checked the stadium in Baton rouge a few times and there also they said no danes came through. There were thousands upon thousands of animals that were rescued from the entire southeast area here and in mississppi and the animal found listings were included them all. But i was told many times some slipped through the cracks.

I dont know why im going through all this with ya'll. I know where cleo is. I should have just deleted the email. And let things just be.

Its hard to Perna. Very hard. When finally accepting what did happen that we've believed these past few years. Having to see Cleo become a sort of hero in the animal world. Seing her story and face pasted on so many websites and all the hundreds of emails we received.

As far as i believe right now is that she's gone to Rainbow Bridge. She's happy and running in big open fields.

This is what hurts so bad. The truth we've know for so long thats attached here.

This is the end of the trauma of the past coming back and smacking me across the face.

I just got an email back from Jenny. here it is.

No problem. It's not her. I live in Minnesota and a man I know started a rescue and has a huge female great Dane but she's a Harlequin(spotted black and white). This man rescued that animal (and more) from the Katrina area/time frame. I happened to be researching Great Danes(because I love the one this man rescued) and out of curiosity googled people who had lost pets in Katrina. I have a soft spot for this Harlequin dog and took a chance answering your ad. It was one of the few that didn't have a picture, so I couldn't rule out if your dog was her. I'm so sorry that it wasn't a match. The man who runs the rescue said that he tried to connect his rescued animals with their owners, but it's so difficult because there wasn't really a central authority or location or website to post info on these rescued animals. Please know that I'm sorry for you that you've lost a pet and didn't mean to stir up any grief.JennyZ

It does hurt, doesn't it? To lose a pet, and now lose it all over again? I'm so sorry.
