I feel like I just can't make it to class today. I'm usually fine with it, and I made it all the way to the college, but I can't make it into the classroom. Do you think it's okay to occasionally not go, I'm doing really well in all my classes and could probably catch up pretty easily, but I feel that not going is a bit of a failure in some ways. Any ways, tell me what you think.

If you don't think that missing once in awhile wouldn't become habit forming I don't think missing class once in awhile is a bad thing. Think of it as a mental health day and believe me we all need those.

Merlin, there's no failure in not going to class once in a while. Sometimes we just need a break. I'd say take the say off, relax, watch some TV or whatever. If you're doing well in school, it shouldn't hurt anything. Anyway, congrats on doing well in school. Kepp up the good work.

merlin, even my t says it's healthy to take "mental health days" from work, school, etc. maybe you just need to take a mental health day Class

he said he does that occasionally as well, and that it's healthy.

Gosh, mental health days...I don't know what I would with out them. Your body can detect when you need rest. Maybe this is a sign. It's ok to miss class every once in a while. Don't beat yourself up about it. You'r not a failure. Take care and I wish you the best.

Hi Merlin -- I think it would depend on the class. I teach some "performance" classes in communication -- meaning that students have to be present for various group workshops, to give speeches, to write critiques of other students' speeches. There is no way to make this up.

Because you didn't indicate that there was anything of that nature involved, I would say take off the day. In non-performance classes, I usually build in 3 days that students can take off without hurting their grade. On the other hand, I allow students who never miss a class to keep the points they earn over 100 for their final grade, as "extra credit."

Well, I decided to skip the classes and take some time for me, a did some walking and made it to the library, so that was good, I also went to dance class. Taking the time of was what I needed I think.
