this is SO stupid! I called to get a (can u say appt when talking about a hairstylist? omg.. nervous about going to the haistylist ) anyway, i wasn't too nervous, but then the woman who answered the phone sounded so bored and like she didn't want to talk to me, and she obviously thought that i'm a total idiot cuz i asked clearly a stupid question about the added cost for long hair (how long is the limit) and thought they probably don't take visa electron, but they do... well evidently they wont see me fit for their place when i walk in with my clothes and looks... omg.. nervous about going to the haistylist they will look at eachother like "look what the cat brought in" and then they will laugh at me after i leave omg.. nervous about going to the haistylist

Hey -- I HATE getting my hair cut, so I can relate to this somewhat. I never make appointments for that reason... so, I usually (meaning, twice a year) just do a walk-in on a whim at whatever salon I happen to be passing when I'm feeling brave.

So, still growing up here.. omg.. nervous about going to the haistylist

I think in the future i will do the walk-in thing... It's just that i got this coupon and u get a dye with two colours too.. Should've known the place would be like that though...I feel so stupid freeking out about all this kind of stuff omg.. nervous about going to the haistylist

Wait -- what -- where in tarnation do you live? Helsinki? Finland? But... are you british? Your English is perfect!

So your sig must be Finnish, too. That's funny. My dad is Hungarian and although I understand that our two languages are both Finno-Ugric, I can't pick out anything in your sig that looks remotely familiar to Hungarian. My Hungarian stinks, though.

yeah, it's not vocabulary or anything like that what's similar, it's the grammar or something (or so i've been told). Errrr.. so much for my perfect english omg.. nervous about going to the haistylist
We're taught to speak/write brittish english though, if that's what you meant.
And my friend moved in helsinki, i live in turku omg.. nervous about going to the haistylist ...well not " omg.. nervous about going to the haistylist " , of course turku is OBVIOUSLY a lot better omg.. nervous about going to the haistylist just the distance. wow.

I meant that your English is colloquial, not just academic. That's why I thought you were British (b/c of some of the spelling).

aeeeh... this would be too hard to explain... eh, well. With finnish pronouncing it doesn't sound same, and that's how i sort of think of it as i read it, so in writing it "sounds" stupid. You have to remember i'm a headcase omg.. nervous about going to the haistylist

NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Okay, instead let's get back to the hair conversation. What would you like them to do to your hair? You mentioned something about 2 colors -- what is your "hair goal"? Could you compare your ideal to a style that a celebrity has?

I would love:
1) Andie Macdowell hair, but mine isn't dark enough or curly enough
2) Catherine Zeta Jones hair, but hers is straighter than mine could ever be

I'm going for either of those looks, but people keep telling me that I have hippie hair. Hippie hair! What! I'm NOT trying to have hippie hair! I want long cascading hair!

What about you?

Here is a picture of my hair (I'm the one on the left). Aside from the backpack (okay, I was hiking! I had a good reason!), any ideas on how I can make it more model-like and less hippie-like?

okay, my picture attempt isn't working. I'll put it into a new reply.

Laura, I wanted to say something about your previous comment about what people will think of you or say after you leave. About the only thing that my dad ever taught me was about giving people free rent in your head. Basically you're letting people you don't even know get under your skin and prevent you from doing the things you want to do. I mean, it doesn't matter how you dress or look, you're still the same old you. And if someone gives you a dirty look or laughs at you then just know that you are 10 times better than them. Just some food for thought.

well... i have extremely low self-esteem (one of the things that makes me suicidal now and then... ) and it really doesn't help that people treat me like that... omg.. nervous about going to the haistylist i know it's just the way life goes.. but well.. i'm not a fan of life omg.. nervous about going to the haistylist

deeeeeep omg.. nervous about going to the haistylist

and the hairstyle for LMo.. i want to keep the way i have it, mine's just overgrown (like by 10cm omg.. nervous about going to the haistylist ) ..so it'd be layered, short, like longest ones to my neck... oh end the ends would naturally (cuz of the cut) turn up.. In the front i'd have the shortest ones so that they don't reach behind my ears so there'd be hanging in my eyes and bugging me... heh.. And i want some dark colour with maybe some red (ish) lines. I think it's a very brisk haircut omg.. nervous about going to the haistylist and so easy... Don't know about celebs' hairstyles so those nor any others don't really say anything to me omg.. nervous about going to the haistylist

I'm sorry you feel that way Laura. Maybe the drive by haircut thing would be better for you then.

I have been told multiple times that I look like Carol from Growing Pains (tv sitcom in the 80's).

Hey - at least you have a modern hairstyle in mind! I'm scared to do much beyond what I have!

What the heck is a meego, anyway? I've never heard of it. Cute hair style, though!

So the picture in your avatar isn't you? I thought it was. Very pretty, btw!

So what does your sig say, anyway?

Okay, so here is the plan:
1) Tomorrow (because I'm guessing it's nighttime there. but then again, it's ALWAYS nighttime there this time of year, isn't it ;-) ), take a walk in your town with the "excuse" of going to get some coffee and a cookie. You definitely deserve a cookie. If I were in Turku, I would buy it for you, but I'm not so you'll have to buy it yourself.
2) Casually wander in front of a hair salon. Look through the window to see if anyone is there.
3) If there appears to be a lot of people waiting, then walk around the block 3 times to get some exercise
4) Go back to the salon
5) If there are still people in the salon, walk and find a used record store, buy yourself a CD that reminds you of a happy time in your life. Ask if you can listen to the CD first, and jam in the store for a few minutes.
6) Go back to the salon. It should be empty by now. If not, find a new salon.
7) Walk into the salon, slap some money on the counter, and say "fix me up -- I need hot and sexy hair and I'm not leaving until you give it to me"
8) Get said hairstyle and then walk out and window shop for the rest of the day, feeling like a star. Then, go home, listen to your CD, and then meet a friend at a nice bar in the evening.

What do you think? Is it a good plan?

LMo

sounds like one yeah ;-) not gonna happen though

i OBJECT!!! it is not! Turku is on the south-west coast and the shortest day of the year here is 6 hours of sunlight, when in lapland on the shortest day the sun doesn't rise at all. All finland is NOT lapland!! LOL i know u were kidding (and now she'll tell me she wasn't... ;-) )
