Dan Fogelberg
» The Innocent Age Capture the moment Carry the day Stay with the chase As long as you may Follow the dreamer, The fool, and the sage Back to the days of The innocent age. Storybook endings Never appear They're just someone's way of Leading us here Waiting for wisdom To open the cage We forged in the fires of The innocent age. Back at the start It was easy to see No one to own to Nowhere to be Deep in the heartlands A sad memory Calls to me. (Calls to me) Fretful horizons Worrisome skies Tearful misgivings Burning your eyes Yearnings unanswered Reckon the wage you Pay to recapture the innocent age.

Speaking of Dan Fogelberg, another one by him
Leader of the Band A lonely child, alone and wild a cabinet maker's son His hands were meant for different work and his heart was known to none He left his home and went his lone and solitary way And he gave to me a gift I know I never can repay. A quiet man of music denied a simpler fate He tried to be a soldier once but his music wouldn't wait He earned his love through discipline a thundering velvet hand His gentle means of sculpting souls took me years to understand The leader of the band is tired and his eyes are growing old But his blood runs through my instrument and his song is in my soul My life has been a poor attempt to imitate the man I'm just the living legacy to the leader of the band. My brother's lives were different for they heard another call One went to Chicago and the other to St. Paul And I'm in Colorado when I'm not in some hotel Living out this life I've chosen And grown to know so well. I thank you for the music and your stories of the road I thank you for the freedom when it came my time to go I thank you for the kindness and the times when you got tough And papa I dont think I've said I love you near enough. The leader of the band is tired and his eyes are growing old But his blood runs through my instrument and his song is in my soul My life has been a poor attempt to imitate the man I'm just the living legacy to the leader of the band. I am the living legacy to the leader of the band... |

Another Linkin Park song-
my heart closely relates to their lyrics- i like them so much- Somewhere I Belong When this began I had nothing to say And I'd get lost in the nothingness inside of me (i was confused) And I let it all out to find that I'm not the only person with these things in mind (inside of me) but all the vacancy the words revealed Is the only thing that i've got left to feel (Nothing to lose) Just stuck, hollow and alone. And the fault is my own And the fault is my own chorus----------------------------------------------- I want to heal, I want to heal What iI thought was never real I want to let go of the pain I've held so long (Erase all the pain 'til it's gone) I want to heal, I want to feel Like I'm close to something real I want to find something I've wanted all along Somewhere I belong ------------------------------------------------------ And I've got nothing to say I can't believe I didn't fall right down on my face (I was confused) looking everywhere only to find that it's Not the way I had imagined it all in my mind. (So what I am) What do i have but negativity Cause I can't justify the way everyone is looking at me (Nothing to lose) Nothing to gain, hollow and alone And the fault is my own And the fault is my own chorus------------------------ I will never know Myself until I do this on my own And I will never feel Anything else 'til my wounds are healed I will never be Anything 'til I break away from me And I will break away I'll find myself today chorus--------------------------- I want to heal, I want to feel like I'm somewhere I belong I want to heal, I want to feel like I'm somewhere I belong Somewhere I belong |

Spies i awake to find no peace of mind i said "how do you live as a fugitive?" down here where i cannot see so clear i said "what do i know?" show me the right way to go and the spies came out of the water and you're feeling so bad cause you know that the spies hide out in every corner but you can't touch them, no cause they're all spies they're all spies i wake to see that no one is free we're all fugitives look at the way we live down here i can not sleep from fear, no i said "which way do i turn?" oh, i forget everything i learn and the spies came out of the water and you're feeling so bad cause you know that the spies hide out in every corner but you can't touch them, no cause they're all spies they're all spies and if we don't hide here they're gonna find us and if we don't hide now they're gonna catch us where we sleep and if we don't hide here they're gonna find us and the spies came out of the water and you're feeling so good cause you know that those spies hide out in every corner but they can't touch you, no they're just spies they're just spies they're just spies they're just spies they're just spies

This has been my theme song for years now. It's Jewel from her album Spirit.
Sun sets' cross the ocean I'm a thousand miles from anywhere My pocketbook and my heart both just got stolen And the sun acts like she don't even care The wind blows cold when you reach the top It feels like someone's face is stuck to the bottom of my shore I got a plastic Jesus, a cordless telephone for every corner of my room Got everybody but you telling me what to do But I've been down so long Ooh, it can't be longer still I've been down so long that the end must be drawing near I look to everybody but me to answer my prayers 'Til I saw an angel in a bathroom who said she saw no one worth saving anywhere And a blind man on the corner said it's simple, like flipping a coin Don't mater what side it lands on if it's someone else's dime But I've been down so long Ooh, it can't be longer still We've been down so long That the end must be drawing near I take a trip, I catch a train, I catch a plane I got a ticket in my hand And then a man takes my money And like cattle we all stand But we've been down so long Ooh, it can't be longer still We've been down so long The end must be . . . I know the end must be. . . Oh, I know the end must be drawing near Oh the end. . . Oh the end. . . Oh the end. . .

Save a Prayer
By: Duran Duran You saw me standing by the wall, corner of a main street And the lights are flashing on your window sill All alone ain’t much fun so you’re looking for the thrill And you know just what it takes and where to go. Don’t save a prayer for me now. Save it til the morning after No don’t say a prayer for me now. Save it til the morning after Feel the breeze deep on the inside look down into the well If you can you’ll see the world in all his fire Take a chance (like all dreamers can’t find another way.) You don’t have to dream it all, just live a day. (chorus) Save it til the morning after Save it til the morning after Save it til the morning after.... - Pretty looking road I try to hold the rising floods that fill my skin Don’t ask me why I’ll keep my promise I’ll melt the ice And you wanted to dance, so I asked you to dance But fear is in your soul, Some people call it a one night stand, but we can call it paradise (chorus) Save it til the morning after Save it til the morning after Save it til the morning after Save it til the morning after Do do do do do, do do do do do do do do Save a prayer til the morning after... Save a prayer til the morning after... Save a prayer til the morning after, Save a prayer til the morning after... |

Mine is a Trinity Roots track. It is all dubby, jazzy, hiphoppy, roots-y, soul. Off their album Home, Land, and Sea. It is called "All We Be".
I'll just partially quote some lyrics. To me they are so affirming and beautiful and they make me think about so many things. In NZ, there have been many cultural issues regarding possession of land and seabeds (between the Maori, who are native, and European settlers). The vocalist of Trinity Roots, Warryn, is half Maori and half European. His ideals are for unity and respect between everyone. That is one reason I have sooooo much respect for their beautiful music ![]() The website is www.trinityroots.com. Please take the time to have a look-see ![]() It is just ... you listen to the song and start believing in what you can do so much more. it doesn't preach or anything but it makes you feel like you have the strength to do ANYTHING. And almost asks why you haven't ... like it's been hard for our ancestors ("those who've gone before us") and they have done so much to make life easier for us ... so who are we to waste the opportunities that we have thanks to them? okies, sorry to go ooooon about it ... This is what I can remember of the lyrics - the CD is in my car cos at the moment I've been listening to it a lot, lol. It's kinda reggae/soul and a lil bit rocky even (this album). Hard to imagine the tune I guess ![]() Got to be the best that we can be ... in this life Got to be the best that we can be ... in this life ... To doubt yourself is the path to misery ... The world is full of possibilities To not step up would be a tragedy To not step up would be a tragedy To not step up would be a tragedy Remind yourself of those who have gone before What price they paid to give us something more At times this life can be harder than it seems Let no man stand between you and your dreams Let nothing stand between you and your dreams Let nothing stand between you and your dreams. Self-fulfilling prophecy that if you show complacency That you might set your spirt free Wasted opportunity might change the paths of destiny ... We gotta believe in the world that we live in We gotta believe in the gifts that we're given We gotta stand up for the things we believe in We gotta believe in the world that we live in We gotta believe in the gifts that we're given WE gotta stand up for the things we believe in ... Got to believe in yourself ... bring the warmth of your life to fruition ... Believe in, believe in this life Got to best that we can be in this life in this life. |

Listen as the wind blows from across the great divide
Voices trapped in yearning, memories trapped in time The night is my companion, and solitude my guide Would I spend forever here and not be satisfied? And I would be the one To hold you down Kiss you so hard I'll take your breath away And after, I'd wipe away the tears Just close your eyes dear Through this world I've stumbled So many times betrayed Trying to find an honest word to find The truth enslaved Oh you speak to me in riddles And you speak to me in rhymes My body aches to breathe your breath Your words keep me alive And I would be the one To hold you down Kiss you so hard I'll take your breath away And after, I'd wipe away the tears Just close your eyes dear Into this night I wander It's morning that I dread Another day of knowing of The path I fear to tread Oh into the sea of waking dreams I follow without pride Nothing stands between us here And I won't be denied And I would be the one To hold you down Kiss you so hard I'll take your breath away And after, I'd wipe away the tears Just close your eyes... The reason I love this song so much is becasue it is about a bi-polar person that commits (the S word) and their friend is singing to them. Kinda keeps me "real" as far as my condition is concerned.
Jenn Far Behind ~ Candlebox, Candlebox 1993 Now maybe I didn't mean to treat you bad But I did it anyway And now maybe Some would say your life was sad But you lived it anyway And so maybe Your friends they stand around they watch your crumble As you falter to the ground And then someday Your friends they stand beside as you were flying Oh you were flying oh so high But them someday people look at you for what they call their own They watch you suffer Yeah they hear you calling home But then some day we could take our time To brush the leaves aside so you can reach us But you left me far behind Now maybe I didn't mean to treat you oh so bad But I did it anyway Now maybe some would say you're left with what you had But you couldn't share the pain No, no, no Couldn't share the pain, they watch you suffer Now maybe I could have made my own mistakes But I live with what I've known And then maybe we might share in something great But won't you look at where we've grown Won't you look at where we've gone But then someday comes tomorrow holds a sense of what I feel for you in my mind As you trip the final line And that cold day when you lost control Shame you left my life so soon you should have told me But you left me far behind Now maybe I didn't mean to treat you oh so bad But I did it anyway Now maybe some would say you're left with what you had But you couldn't share the pain No, no, no Now maybe I didn't mean to treat you oh so bad But I did it anyway Now maybe some would say you're left with what you had But you couldn't share the pain I said times have changed your friends They come and watch you crumble to the ground They watch you suffer Yeah, they hold you down Hold you down Now maybe brother, maybe love I didn't mean to treat you bad But you left me far behind Left me far behind Left me far behind

i know that Bob Dylan and i have never met, so how was he able to describe the day that i left my beloved home ,in a rental truck, with Tippy, to drive 500 miles to my new home in New Mexico..i stood in my kitchen and screamed my pain....screamed his name...and then i left.....
Standing in the Doorway~~ I'm walking through the summer nights Jukebox playing low Yesterday everything was going too fast Today, it's moving too slow I got no place left to turn I got nothing left to burn Don't know if I saw you, if I would kiss you or kill you It probably wouldn't matter to you anyhow You left me standing in the doorway, crying I got nothing to go back to now The light in this place is so bad Making me sick in the head All the laughter is just making me sad The stars have turned cherry red I'm strumming on my gay guitar Smoking a cheap cigar The ghost of our old love has not gone away Don't look like it will anytime soon You left me standing in the doorway crying Under the midnight moon Maybe they'll get me and maybe they won't But not tonight and it won't be here There are things I could say but I don't I know the mercy of God must be near I've been riding the midnight train Got ice water in my veins I would be crazy if I took you back It would go up against every rule You left me standing in the doorway, crying Suffering like a fool When the last rays of daylight go down Buddy, you'll roll no more I can hear the church bells ringing in the yard I wonder who they're ringing for I know I can't win But my heart just won't give in Last night I danced with a stranger But she just reminded me you were the one You left me standing in the doorway crying In the dark land of the sun I'll eat when I'm hungry, drink when I'm dry And live my life on the square And even if the flesh falls off of my face I know someone will be there to care It always means so much Even the softest touch I see nothing to be gained by any explanation There are no words that need to be said You left me standing in the doorway crying Blues wrapped around my head Bob Dylan, 1997 |

Anyone heard Eddie Vedder sing this, accompanied by only guitar and mandolin???????? It's ethereal.......if a song about war can be ethereal...Bob Dylan wrote it.
Come you masters of war You that build all the guns You that build the death planes You that build the big bombs You that hide behind walls You that hide behind desks I just want you to know I can see through your masks You that never done nothin' But build to destroy You play with my world Like it's your little toy You put a gun in my hand And you hide from my eyes And you turn and run farther When the fast bullets fly Like Judas of old You lie and deceive A world war can be won You want me to believe But I see through your eyes And I see through your brain Like I see through the water That runs down my drain You fasten the triggers For the others to fire Then you set back and watch When the death count gets higher You hide in your mansion As young people's blood Flows out of their bodies And is buried in the mud You've thrown the worst fear That can ever be hurled Fear to bring children Into the world For threatening my baby Unborn and unnamed You ain't worth the blood That runs in your veins How much do I know To talk out of turn You might say that I'm young You might say I'm unlearned But there's one thing I know Though I'm younger than you Even Jesus would never Forgive what you do Let me ask you one question Is your money that good Will it buy you forgiveness Do you think that it could I think you will find When your death takes its toll All the money you made Will never buy back your soul And I hope that you die And your death'll come soon I will follow your casket In the pale afternoon And I'll watch while you're lowered Down to your deathbed And I'll stand o'er your grave 'Til I'm sure that you're dead |

Times have changed and times are strange Here I come , But I ain't the same Mama, I'm Coming Home Times gone by seems to be You could have been a better friend to me Mama, I'm Coming Home You took me in and you drove me out Yeah, you had me hypnotized Lost and found and turned around By the fire in your eyes You made me cry, you told me lies But, I can't stand to say goodbye Mama, I'm Coming Home I could be right, I could be wrong It hurts so bad, it's been so long Mama, I'm Coming Home Selfish love yeah we're both alone The ride before the fall But I'm gonna take this heart of stone I just got to have it all I've seen your face a hundred times Everyday we've been apart I don't care about the sunshine, yeah 'Cause Mama, Mama, I'm Coming Home I'm Coming Home You took me in and you drove me out Yeah, you had the hypnotised Lost and found and turned around By the fire in your eyes I've seen your face a thousand times Everyday we've been apart And I don't care about the sunshine, yeah 'Cause Mama, Mama, I'm Coming Home I'm Coming Home Ozzy Osbourne |

Well then, here comes another one...
Dreamer Gazing through the window at the world outside Wondering will mother earth survive Hoping that mankind will stop abusing her sometime After all there's only just the two of us And here we are still fighting for our lives Watching all of history repeat itself Time after time I'm just a dreamer I dream my life away I'm just a dreamer Who dreams of better days I watch the sun go down like everyone of us I'm hoping that the dawn will bring a sign A better place for those Who will come after us ... This time I'm just a dreamer I dream my life away oh yeah I'm just a dreamer Who dreams of better days Your higher power may be God or Jesus Christ It doesn't really matter much to me Without each others help there ain't no hope for us I'm living in a dream of fantasy Oh yeah, yeah, yeah If only we could all just find serenity It would be nice if we could live as one When will all this anger, hate and biggotry ... Be gone? I'm just a dreamer I dream my life away Today I'm just a dreamer Who dreams of better days Okay I'm just a dreamer Who's searching for the way Today I'm just a dreamer Dreaming my life away Oh yeah, yeah, yeah Ozzy Osbourne |

It was just another story printed on the second page
Underneath the Tiger's football score It said he was only eighteen, a boy about my age They found him face down on his bedroom floor There'll be services on Friday at the Lawrence Funeral Home Then out on Mooresville highway, they'll lay him 'neath a stone... How do you get that lonely, how do you hurt that bad To make you make the call, that havin' no life at all Is better than the life that you had How do you feel so empty, you want to let it all go How do you get that lonely... and nobody know Did his girlfriend break up with him, did he buy or steal that gun? Did he lose a fight with drugs or alcohol? Did his Mom and Daddy forget to say I love you son? Did no one see the writing on the wall? I'm not blamin' anybody, we all do the best we can I know hindsight's 20/20, but I still don't understand... How do you get that lonely, how do you hurt that bad To make you make the call, that havin' no life at all Is better than the life that you had How do you feel so empty, you want to let it all go How do you get that lonely... and nobody know It was just another story printed on the second page Underneath the Tiger's football score... Here's a vote for Country! Janniebug
