Friend's Birthday Party Tonight

My friends are having a party tonight for my friend's birthday. They called to invite me, but the thing is last time they had a party, there was more than alcohol there if you know what I mean. I don't even drink, and I definitely don't mess around with illegal substances.

I feel crappy about not being able to go, but I know I wouldn't enjoy myself. I'd end up being the designated driver when they got the munchies at 3am or something. A month ago I had to go rescue a friend from there because he wasn't comfortable with some of the stuff going on.

I miss the days when we were in high school. Most of my friends (including two of those who are planning this party tonight) didn't drink, and we still had a lot of fun.

This bites.

I haven't had a drink in over 16 years, so I know what it's like to always be the Designated Driver. And while you know it's the right thing to do, it does make you feel left out of the fun. Sounds like you did the right thing by staying home. Sorry it makes you feel so crappy, but I understand, I really do.
