I have bad anxiety and misophonia (sound sensitivity) and my therapist has suggested trying Neurofeedback. I really want to find something that will ease my anxiety and my sound issues, but I'm a little nervous as well.
I was hoping that maybe someone else here has tried it any could answer a few questions... |

Do they ask a lot of personal questions - background trauma? I had a lot of childhood trauma and I haven't worked through it or dealt with it, or even told my therapist about some of it...maybe this is irrational, but I worry that neurofeedback will unlock a part of me that maybe shouldn't be unlocked. I'm not sure that makes any sense... |

Yes, neurfeedback works nicely. Calm, focus and reducuction of psychiatric symptoms are the typical benefits. You won't be asked questions to challenge or stimulate problems, it doesn't work that way. Don't worry about unlocking demons. Neurotherapists are aware that can be a problem and know how to show you how to balance and harmonize the brainwaves in a natural and organic way.
Some neurofeedback therapists will get more history than others. Do what is comfortable for you. At least tell them that there is a history of childhood trauma. At the right time you may get alpha/theta training that will resolve those issues for you.
