Life has dealt me with a terrible financial loss due to my failure to act and I had blocked it out . Its a horrible picture in my mind of the damage . Its real and I'm so depressed over it that I don't think I should be here . It will impact my whole family . I have failed. I need to forgive my self I just don't know how . I am seeing a psych and I'm on some drugs to get me to sleep and calm down . The Amitriptyline is helping me some since ssri's drive me crazy . I am 4 weeks into this my head has cleared some and I'm trying to walk some. Does hypnosis work ?

Hello & Welcome, Lima01. I have no personal experience with hypnotherapy. I have read blogs on PsychCentral (one example) that mention hypnotherapy being of possible help for depression.

Grieving any kind of loss is difficult and cannot be forced into an arbitrary timetable. I'm glad you are getting help.

Please keep posting.

I sometimes listen to tracks on Youtube to help with anxiety. I had to try different ones to find one which worked for me and even then I had to repeatedly listen to it many times over before I learnt how to relax to it. You might also need to patient, but I think it's worth it.
I think this woman is quite good.
She's done lots of different ones.

I don't think you have anything to lose by trying it.

I've had hypnosis sessions two times and both times I found them tremendously helpful. You have to be careful who you see for hypnosis. Some people are very skilled at it and others know very little.

When hypnosis is done correctly, I think that it can help you to make a huge amount of improvement in a short period of time.

It doesn't come with a guarantee, though.

I've had hypnosis done by a woman that was also a psychologist. (She worked in a hospital) It was done for conversion disorder, not for depression. The sessions were mostly relaxing; a few (when certain "techniques" were used) made me tense and made my thoughts run, so we didn't do much of the techniques I didn't react well to. However, as those techniques were necessary for the conversion disorder treatment, it didn't help me any.

I was VERY scared of it in the beginning. I even went to great lengths to make sure I got the therapist a friend had been to so I knew she could be trusted. The whole idea of hypnosis scared me. But it turned out alright.
