Typically a neuropsychologist engages in testing to evaluate degree and type of cognitive impairment particularly in individuals where there is a clear type of brain injury or suspicion of a brain lesion. They can assist with diagnosis and treatment recommendations as well.
They would have to tailor the battery of tests to meet the referral question. Neuropsychological testing typically takes 4-8 hours, depending again on the referral question. |

If you are looking for a DSM diagnosis, you don't need a neuropsych. A PhD Psychologist can do testing for bipolar and borderline. In my experience they test for any mental illness-you might be surprised

Yup, PhD or PsyD. You have to ask up front when you contact them, because not all psychologists have the tests.

I think my first T was a neuropsychologist. She was specialized in somatic disorders and treated me for conversion disorder and other things.
