My Psychiatrist strongly stated I needed to go to the hosp due to my suicidal thoughts and severe depression and anxiety. I refused to go stating my concerns for my pets in my absence. Three weeks later I was thinking of slaughtering my household including my pets. I boarded my dog in a kennel. I put out huge amounts of dry food and water for my cats and arranged someone to check on them. I was taken to the Harris Catskill Regional Medical Center. Spent 11 days there. One of the best decisions of my life. I'm very happy, clear thinking and all of my family and I are safe from me. Each of my medications were reviewed and kept the same or revised or stopped. A few were added. The staff in the hospital taught, instructed and rehashed repeatedly new coping skills to deal with life's stress while dealing with, in my case, bipolar, depression and anxiety. There were other people with a host of different issues and they were helped with theirs. I'm successfully applying daily what I learned and I'm grateful for everything.

I'm happy you were able to get help, and that the hospital stay was beneficial. Hopefully you'll be able to continue to apply the new skills you learned, now that you are out.
