I have a (supposedly "severe") eating disorder and talked to someone from the Rapid Response/state crisis line who said I don't need to eat, just think positively and I won't die ever. I want to be positive and believe them and not listen to my doctors who kinda doubt I'll see 2026 at this point and want to change that!
Just feel that's a little fked, ya know? I've had people encourage me to quit my meds (like, anticonvulsants, cold turkey, which can cause seizures, which isn't good) before too. Sometimes I think they have people interview to work at like CVS in the pharmacy but they're like "you can't count past five (I know, math, hard, that's why it's so easy to fk everyone over these days because no decent musician can count past 4. If you're a brilliant musician you can maybe make 6), and you couldn't past the test where you could say there's a difference between Trazodone and Tramadol (my dad's pharmacist made that mistake once and made him drive back after taking the trazodone that was supposed to be tramadol, I feel like that could've been a huge lawsuit), but we know SOMEONE who will be desperate to hire you--you ever hear of the mobile crisis line?"

MuddyBoots,
It definitely sounds like you have good reason to be concerned about the suggestions that you've received from workers at the crisis line that you've tried calling. It's very interesting that the crisis line workers even seem to have promised you immortality as part of the claims that they've made. I will definitely say that I'm sorry to hear that the suggestions that some crisis line workers have made to you haven't been more helpful. As far as reporting crisis line workers is concerned, I will say that it seems that state crisis lines are overseen by the departments of human services (or the departments of health and human services) in the states that they're in. Some state departments of human services have an office of the inspector general that investigates reports of abuse, neglect, and mistreatment by those who provide services that are overseen by the state department of human services. States that don't have an office of the inspector general for their department of human services might have Web sites and phone numbers that allow members of the public to report suspected abuse, neglect, and mistreatment by those who provide services that are overseen by the department of human services. You might want to try searching the Web for the department of human services (or department of health and human services) in your state to see if you might be able to find online forms and/or phone numbers where you can report crisis line workers who have made suggestions that you think could affect those who call the crisis lines in detrimental ways. I wish you luck with doing whatever you think might be best relating to the suggestions that you've been given by those at the crisis line that you called. I also hope that you'll be able to figure out a way to successfully meet your needs as they relate to your eating disorder and other mental health problems. Shadow2000 |
