So, I am single and don't have any kids yet, so I treat my cats as kids. Does anyone else think of their pet as a kid?

As well, I make my cats call my mom. They will leave messages on her voice mail like:

"Meow Meow Mew Mew. Grandmommy... Why aren't you answering. This is you grandkitties. We want to talk to grandmommy. Meow Meow Mew Mew. Call your grandkitties. Meow Meow Mew Mew Bye-Bye Meow Meow Mew Mew." Then I will make some cat sounds.

Does anyone else make their pets talk and call people? Or am I crazy for doing so?
Thanks for this!

The animals are definitely part of my family, and the children I will never have. I have been known when traveling in the past to call to talk to them on the phone to hear about their reactions; it has been funny as sometimes some have been interested and others could care less about the oddity of the phone and voice in it. It's more for my benefit as I miss them but they have no idea what that phone means. My one lab would actually respond by licking the phone while I was talking, kisses (?) or something good left on it (?), who knows but calling for me is an odd, comforting thing to do while away.

I call my critters my "fur family" does that count? When I've had a bad day I can't wait to get home and soak up solice from them. If I have to be away from home for a few days I miss them. Can't say I've ever left messages on some one's phone from ont of the animals. Like the others though, I've called home and asked the person there to hold the phone to a pet's ear so I could talk to them.

No way are you crazy!!! I adore my dogs beyond words and they are absolutely my kids. Along with my husband and other family, they are the most important thing in the world to me. No question about it. Everyone who knows me thinks of them as my kids! They even give my husband cards on Father's Day!!!

I treat my little Amy like a child. I am extremely protective of her. She is my baby. When hubby went away for two months recently, he spoke to her once on the phone! She didn't appreciate it but we had fun!

My cat got a dental this year, I didn't, but hey that's okay... too scared of dentists anyway, lol. I went for two years without going to an eye doctor for my yearly exam so my cat could get his eyes treated. I am eating out of a food bank and cutting my own hair recently to support a change in my cat's health needs. My home is now Cat Shui inlieu of Feng Shui. One side of the livingroom and bedroom are for him and the other half is for me, lol.

I guess that qualifies me as a meowmie

I spend just as much on my 5 pets as I do my bf and myself. I bake cat treats for my cats. They have tons of toys.

They are my kids. They have no rules. Gave that up long ago. Look at Patches and tell her "NO!" and she will do it anyways. She thinks she's funny.

My pets get gifts for their birthdays and Christmas. Since I don't know when Boris, Sonya and Nina were born, their "birthday" is the day they came to live with me. That is especially true for Nina since she was severely neglected and abused. Though she's 10, her life did not begin until she came to live with me. Now she's a spoiled brat living the good life!
