Jemaine is what we like to call thick...or phat. When he walks, his belly is mesmerising...somewhat like the dance of a snake and snake charmer.

Oh, I love any cat. I bonded with them as a child instead of bonding with people.

I named my cat his kitten nickname, Squirt because I just couldn't come up with a good name and I kept calling him that...but I call him Squ, Squey, Squibert, Squuby Doo. Yes, I really named a cat Squirt. But at 11 he still acts like a big baby.

My calico I named Haiku...but she had a bad URI when I got her from the shelter and my ex-husband and I called her BoogerRat...very snotty kitten with loong legs and loong tail. Well...now she is 6 and just goes by Booger full time. I had them change it at the vet, even. All that time I spent thinking of Haiku and she got stuck with Booger. She loves the sound of her name tho. I feel guilty sometimes, however...she is beautiful and graceful, still with long legs and beautiful long tail. She deserves Haiku. Anyway, also call her Boogs and Missikins.

I have one like that. When she runs her tiger belly swings back and forth and it's hilarious. I tried getting her to lose weight but I can't very well; she and the other cat only eat about a cup of food a day, which doesn't seem excessive. She's just a thick kitty. I love her anyway.

Salem has Slim, Skipper, Skips, Salump (my nephew calls him that), Dr. Slim, Say-Say, Big Boy, Jynx, Senator Skip, Hopping Boss, Star, Emperor, Honey bun, puddin', and Sir Salem.

Surprisingly, they know which name means which one. Foster even gets upset if I am talking softly to him and mention one of Salem's nicknames.

What are some of your nicknames for your pets?
I think some of your nicknames for your furry friends are awesome. I myself am an avid animal lover and currently I have 2 dogs and 3 cats. My neighbor has a cat who is affectionately called Moose, because he is so fat.

I had a female hamster named Squirt (because she was a li'l squirt!) and the male hamster I bought with her (not to breed; I just picked out two hamsters, and they turned out to be opposite sex...each got his/her own cage), I named him Scoot, because when I would get ready to clean out his cage, he would try to climb on the scoop and I would tell him, "Scoot back!".

I once read you shouldn't give your pets nicknames, because it will confuse them and they may not obey your commands. I'm just one of those people who likes to give affectionate nicknames to my pets (and if I had them, children), so I didn't stick to that. I've never had a problem with my pets seeming confused with nicknames. And they all behaved quite well (even if sometimes funny and quirky)!

Our dogs all have nicknames and recognize them all. Amy has so many nicknames and I use them all.

I live with 2 dogs and 4 cats. (none of them are mine) I will call my daughter's dog Butt nose because he is always sniffing the butt of my mother's dog or he has it in the cat litter box. Sometimes I call him B-Bop because he cannot sit still.

My husband thinks I'm silly because I call our furbabies all different names and now my boys are doing it too! Lol
My Dog: Snoopers: snoop, nooper, nooper-d, snoop-noop
My Cats: Lady (my first baby): lady girl, boo, bunny-woo, hunny-woo, lady-boo, mama's hunny bunny. And our baby boy is Pumpkin: punkyunk, punkin, monk, monkin, monkin-huckin, monkey-hunky

Definately nice to know I'm not alone in the silly nicknames.

Omigosh HereIamBp... your signature picture is just adorable! I love cats too ♥

Our two cats each have their own nicknames. We call the Turkish Angora one Fluffy or Fluff-Tail (she's really really fluffy, especially after a bath), and my boyfriend came up with the name Queen Mau I after the Egyptian word for cat. I call the Nebelung one, who's a lot more affectionate towards me, Baby or My Little One when she comes to curl up next to me. Their actual names are Little Puff (Angora) and Maya (Nebelung) respectively.

Cally, I know what you mean about your hamster recognizing his name. The two I had several years ago knew their names (Squirt and Scoot), and responded to my voice as well!

Big Zero, your cats sound adorable, beautiful and wonderful. Beware! This is a trick! Cats are trying to take over the world! Do not succumb to their powers! DO NOT SUCCUMB!!!

On second thought, succumb. I mean, cats are pretty cool. Surely they can run the world better than we are doing now.

I give my pets middle names. Alex is almost 7 years old, and he came to live with me the very day that Steve Irwin was killed. Thus he acquired the middle name of Irwin to honor not only Steve-o but the entire family. Paisley is almost 3. She had been hand raised by humans after her cat mommy was run over by a car. Since she was therefore a little orphan, her middle name became Ann.

So we have in our house Alex Irwin Kittycat and Paisley Ann Kittycat.

When these two were younger, we also had two older cats. RIP Tuffy Love Kittycat and Tiger Lily Kittycat. We miss you.

Other cats I've had, I've given both middle names and nicknames. Jason Keith Kittycat, named after crushes my daughter and I both had at the time, answered to Jasey Face. Come to think of it, Alex is also affectionately called Butthead, because he head-butts, and Paisley is so playful that my husband sometimes calls her Playsley.

My first cat, Freddi, didn't have a middle name. I was only 12 when I got her, and that was before I started bestowing middle names on pets. I had originally named her after the comic actor, Freddie Prinze. (I'm referring to Senior.) Then we found out she was female, so we dropped the -e and said it was short for Frederica. But now, years later, when it's also RIP Freddi, you were the best cat I've ever known, she has acquired the perfect middle name. You see, my husband goes by his middle name of Michael, and is known to the world as Mike. But his first name is Frederick. Because of this, my first cat is now posthumously named Frederica Michelle Kittycat.

I have a Begle named Homer, my husband's Greek, for the Illiad, and my cat is Baxter. We call Homer Homey sometimes and he responds too.
