So, I love cats and it really hurts me, like deep inside when they are crying out plaintively. I don't know why it just really bothers me when I hear a cat crying like that and I want to help it so it can stop crying. This is even more distressing to me when it occurs the ENTIRE NIGHT. I just want to help this kitty but it has become this whole friggin ordeal because I live in a condo community so now all these people are mad at me for interfering. My only motivation here was to get the poor kitty off the balcony and back to its rightful owner so it could stop meowing. Obviously it sounds upset; it's been on a balcony for almost 24hrs. Doesn't anyone else care about this? And WTF about it's owner, now she's going to be mad at me for having gone and told this other lady and I'm like, Dude, YOURE THE ONE WHO KNEW YOUR CAT WAS STUCK ON A BALCONY AND THEN DECIDED TO LEAVE IT THERE ALL NIGHT.
I'm just so confused and frustrated right now. I hate people. |

It matters that you cared enough for this poor ,scared kitty. Where was the Owner? did they even wonder where he/she was? I love cats, they are intuitive, passionate and even though aloof so much of the time they have needs and wants. Our cat is 16 yrs, she had been abandoned and was very tiny when my husband found her running scared. she was so tiny she looked like a rodent(he said) she's indoor outdoor cat that is very vocal.. The kitty's owner is obviously insensitive and if they do come around looking for it hopefully they will show that they do care and were being thoughtless.

I don't know what to say. I hope the owner has a good reason for leaving the cat outside crying. I'm thinking she won't though.

Just to clarify. the cat's owner KNOWS the cat is stuck on someone else's balcony and just left her there all night. Last night we had one of the worst thunderstorms in recent memory and all I could think about was how terrified that poor animal must be. Which of course did not let me sleep. We can't get to the cat because the unit with the balcony is vacant and no one lives there. Right now it's just sitting there meowing it's head off. People told me to call animal control but I don't want to traumatize it further.

I had a cat once that was frighted so much by something that it climbed straight up a two story wall to the roof. I couldn't do anything that night but as soon as the maintenance man came to work next morning I borrowed a ladder from him and got the cat down. Maybe your maintenance or management can help? |

I'm wondering if the onsite Manager(there usually is one) could let you into the unit. How sad. thank you for clarifying about the situation. You must feel the helplessness of the poor kitty. How awful that the owner knows about it, yet is doing nothing. I think the Animal shelter would know what to do, and that the kitty would be relieved.

I finally got a hold of the owner. It looks like things will soon be resolved and she didn't seem too angry at me putting my nose in her business. Maybe she'll change her tune once she hears from that other lady that needs to come open the apartment though! Apparently there's been cat poo on the balcony while she's been showing it to potential buyers!
Thanks for all the ideas. This cat thing was really making me obsessive. |

At least someone is trying to help the poor cat! Has anyone called the fire department? They might have a ladder long enough to reach the cat. KEep trying!!
