I'm told if I clean up all my apartment I can get more pets. It's a bit of a project but I think I need a motivator to start since I have 2 junk rooms as it is.... Sigh.

I want a corn snake and I read up what I could on them. Still, from other pets I had during my quite long life, expert info is not always the best so I'd like advice from pet owners rather.

Can you feed them mice for many years, is there a cutoff point when you must start them on rat?

What is the best and cheapest bedding?

Are they solitary or can you have two?

How many years are they when they really need a huuuge tank? I came to understand they grow slowly.

I have raised mice in the past and sold as snake food so I know everything I need about that part. I just never had a snake.

Those are the details I have not found in the "books".

These links should help with those questions. The only one I did not see answered in the links below was was the question in keeping one or two; they are solitary animals and it is best to keep them as singles, unless trying to breed them. Then do research about breeding as they need very specific requirements or they will harm each other; one step at a time though. Also, they can live up to 23 years in captivity, average 12-17 years, something to keep in mind for a commitment. Best wishes.

Yea, breeding wouldn't be a priority anyway... takes a few years for them to even reach maturity. Then I would only breed if I had a genetically desired morph and I think I just want an amel. They are my fav.

Would also be interesting to meet others on here liking snakes.
