If your rat dog throws a fit with another dog you can just pick the dog up and not teach your dog proper behavior. You can't just tug on the leash and say "heel" because you'd probably send them flying in the opposite direction. Of course, you never see these leashes on big dogs.

Did I mention how much I dislike small dogs? My cat is bigger than most small dogs and she's only a kitten. I feel like small dogs are just accessories or a substitution for a cat that you can take in public.
I'll tell you a little secret. I can't stand dogs. They stink. Cats for me.

I think they are scared the kids will run off and get grabbed up by some pervert. I know that was always on my mind. I had an active little boy that would run off to tease me. Scared the crap out of me.

It scared the poo out of my Mom when I went and got myself lost. To tell the truth it scared the poo out of me too! My poor mother took all kinds of flack from people about a) "letting" me walk on my own. I was a tiny mite of a thing that walked very early, but there wasn't any "letting" involved. I was a strong willed little devil intent on walking on my own. And b) making me wear a harness and leash. She would explain about me taking off, but people still critisized her for it. Personally, I'm glad she wanted to keep me safe. At the time I was content to walk along on my leash.

Why should anyone be embarrassed by nakedness?

We only need clothes for safety or health reasons, the rest of it is just shame based idealogy. Human feet are capable of becoming quiet thick and impervious. I hated shoes and ran around most of my life san shoes. I wore soleless moccasins when I couldn't have bare feet. For the record I hate those plastic thong things, you can't run in them. Personally I think animals are one up on us in the food chain. To call someone a dog or a pig is to insult the animal.

It would be interesting to know what a cat or a dog without hair thinks about those that have hair. I'm not trying to anthropomorphosise, but I think they do have a level of awareness that allows them to recognise their differences. My dog saw a hairless dog at the vets and gave it a look of concern, she wasn't embarassed by the nakedness but her instinct was that it wasn't quite right. However, I'm talking here about a dog who once tried to lick the spots off a dalmation, so I doubt too much goes on in her brain other than can I eat it?

Because there are superficial assholes out there who are determined to make you feel like crap because of the way you look. For most people, all it takes is one meanie to send them spiraling into a depression. Not feeling embarrassed is easier said than done. Ideally, it would be nice, but this just isn't feasible in the current times and society.

I've researched nudist colonies. After awhile, you just become indifferent around nude people. There's old folks, kids, young adults, etc. and no one is going around and pointing fingers or staring impolitely. I couldn't do it because I get cold a lot I also am scarred up from a genetic skin disease. It's disgusting and I can't bare for people to see it. I mean, it's a mess; graft scars, abrasion scars, some where my skin was eaten away years ago. I earned a demeaning nickname because of it. Coincidentally, it has followed me throughout my entire life. Plus, covering of some sort makes me feel secure, like wrapped up in soft protection. Without it, I feel like one big exposed nerve and I start freaking out. Society's programming got rooted deeply into my subconscious over time and it's been a pain in the butt to try to override it. I don't like to attract attention of any kind. Stares, even glances send me straight into a panic attack.

I get weirded out when my dog looks at me naked, but when my kitty watches me take a shower and I pick her up still wet I like to say, "Now there's two" (of us).

Why? Do you have two cats?

That poor dog.

My dog watches me shower or bathe. I don't know what she's thinking, but I always like to imagine she's wondering how I can take my fur off whenever I want.

Yes and no. My cats have seen me get dressed into my night clothes and they don't stare or vomit at the sight of me. Sometimes they glance but I think it's mostly because they see mommy doing something which involves a lot of moving around. The vibe I get from them is one of 'who cares' and like they don't believe anything is out of place or perhaps that's what humans look like. There isn't a nasty hateful demeaning remark brewing in the back of their minds. They just seem curious, if they're not dozing off in their own little world or preoccupied. I only feel threatened by the adult human mind with the average to high average intelligent quotient. That just goes back to how I've always trusted animals more than humans, and connected to them better emotionally.

It makes me think we may need to clothe our animals. They are unable to dress themselves so they may want to be dressed in our presence
