I was making squash on thanksgiving day for a dessert I was taking to friends house. It was a warm day so I put my 2 male dogs that fight, connected by long cables to trees separated enough so neither could get to each other. Leo forever barks when outside because he hates being away from me. Well standing in the kitchen I heard his bark but it was definitely closer than from the tree. Quick washed my hands & walked to the front storm door & there stood Leo barking to come in. He hadn't run off to chase the neighbors cows nor had he gone over to JoGI to fight with him....he came right to the front door to let me know he wanted to come in....to be with me.
I was trying to figure how he got loose. The connector was still connected to his collar. Went to look at the cable & the coating had worn off & the cable rusted in to letting go of the connector. I was so proud of Leo because I know how much he loves to explore. His good dog self got to him before bad dog self realized what had really happened. I have been working with Tawny to teach her to climb the steps to get onto my bed. She will just stand there pawing at them waiting for me to pick her up but I boost her from one step to the next until she finally hops up onto the bed. Yesterday I was busy working on something while sitting on the bed so didn't pay attention to her. Next thing I knew she had climbed the steps & was on the bed with me getting praise for doing so good. All proves she is quite capable of doing things by herself & not needing mom to pick her up a put her where she wants to go. Hey I know getting into my truck is impossible for her. I lift her when it's necessary but encourage her independence most of the time...what a plesant surprise that was.

I too had an amazing pet when i was nine though he is long passed away now my hamster copper was thrown down the sewer drain by a neighborhood kid . when he did it i screamed and screamed so loud that other people noticed and some kids even tried to help. I went in the house and started praying .while i was in the house my mom and neighborhood kids were looking around and had discovered an open sewer drain nearby.so my mom took a bucket and she put some food and attached it to a string and lowered it in then she shook and copper came and got in the bucket and we got him out.he was a little dirty but still perfect.i miss my little man r.i.p. copper love you
