How about General? It's just what I thought of when I saw him. He is beautiful. I know you are proud of him.

Thanks for all your suggestions. I settled on Kieran. I tried calling him different things the last few days. Kieran just feels right.

I was thinking since he is grey and you first saw him in the rain that thunder would be a good name but I also like Kieran.

I am really not good at naming our fur baby's. Our son names the cat McGee after NCIs and my husband and daughter named our other cat Sunny because he is orange and I am not sure how our dog got her name. I just know they usually veto my picks.

Good luck Liz

Y'all are going to think I have a screw loose. While I was trying out names I asked him which one he liked best. He told me I can call him anything I want as long as I promise to love and care for him. It was an easy promise to make.

Don't think that's screwy at all!

All horse people have screws loose.... I can say that because I am one too :-) We need those loose screws to help us stay in the saddle and to let out all the bad stuff and let in all the good when we ride or just hang out with our horses.

Dakota mentioned hanging out with the horses. Kieran and I have been doing that. Yesterday I walked out in the pasture to check on something and he came over to hang with me. Work has been incredibly stressful lately. I've been going out to the barn and just being with him, brush, pet, etc. That horrid empty void I had is filling back up.

Yeah, horse time can help me get thru a lot of stuff. My husband is the one who is having trouble right now and being able to go out and just have time to myself masked me a better support person for him. The horse I have is easy going and does not mind when my husband has come out to help me shed the beast out:-) My horse does not mind one bit if my husband is quiet or sad, he just absorbs the energy and waits.... I know you will have the same experience once you two spend more time together :-) :-)

I think that animals are most receptive to how their name comes out from the owner in tone. If the name comes out sounding up beat and higher pitched in a soft way, it sends a positive tone to the animal. Also, if the owner likes the name they are more apt to speak it in an upbeat way that comes across friendly to the animal. If you say his name and feel good he will pick up on that the most as horses are so sensitive that way.
