Thought I'd share something that I'm trying out with our cat, who gorges and then throws up her food...she's never been able to get over her days of trying to survive outside. Anyway, last year I had tried one of those little mats with all the rubbery spikes, that the food is supposed to fall inbetween, so she has to work a little to get her food......our cat just sat and stared at if. Didn't get the concept I guess.

So, I was reading a review on Amazon for a slow feeder, and this woman suggested just flipping your pets bowl over and scattering the kibble around it. I tried it, and it worked. I decided to make things neater by putting down this huge platter and placing small proportions in different places around the plate. It's much neater, and it's working!

Just thought I'd share, with the hope that it will help someone else.

My guy was like that when I first got him. I just gave him a tablespoon at a time and he caught on. But your way sounds good.

Thanks - going to be away, and she will probably only be fed once a day, so I'm thinking this will help a lot. It almost creates an illusion of being 5 separate meals, when it's really only one or two....that might just be my illusion, though.

I find throw up around the house at least once a week. I was thinking it was our older cat but now I think it's the younger one because he was feral when we got him and the throwup is away kibble that is not digested. Plus we caught him one day.

Just an update on the platter approach...my cat realized that she could just sit in the center of the plate and eat full circle. Oh well...will keep trying.

We found these Kong bowls for dogs. Lots of nooks and crannies to scatter kibble into.

I wonder if it's a seasonal thing. My daughter's cat is doing the same thing: gorging on her food and then throwing up everything. Like she knows summer is ending soon and she needs to fatten up.
