On Mother's Day 2017, my precious 17-year-old furball of a cat Yoda (pictured in attachment) passed away. She was originally my stepmom's cat and I kinda adopted her from my stepmom since she constantly wanted to be around me all the time.

Having both anxiety and severe depression, I found myself wanting to be around Yoda 24/7. I think she kinda knew I wasn't feeling good and always followed me around. I would sit somewhere and she would immediately come to lay beside me or lay on my lap. She loved giving me head boops and licking me, especially my face and wrists (I have faint self-harm scars on my left wrist and arm, and she was constantly licking them). Sometimes I'd even cry as she licked me and she would lick away my tears and purr loudly, in a way to comfort me. Every time she meowed at me I would meow back and we would have whole conversations through our meows (even though neither of us understood what the other was saying, lol). No matter how bad I felt, she would always know how to calm me down and comfort me. I feel like we were really connected to each other and had a very strong bond.

Since her passing, I've felt even more depressed and lonely. I can no longer seem to get through my days. Not only did she help me with my emotional struggles, she helped me with my daily life struggles. It was because of her that I could get past these hurdles. But now that she's gone, I feel empty and hopeless. Yes, she was old and weak during the last two weeks of her life, but the fact that she passed on Mother's Day hurts. I can only hope she's at peace and free of pain jumping from cloud to cloud and sliding down rainbows.

I love and miss you, Yoda

Yoda was beautiful. I am so, so sorry for your terrible loss.

It's been a bit of time since Yoda passed...any chance you might adopt another cat?

Hello. I am a total animal lover. We have a house full of a variety of critters. Most are rescues or dump-offs. You seem to be a very loving person with lots to give an animal. Just a thought, the shelters are overflowing with animals needing someone wonderful like you. Think about it.

I'm a bit unsure if I wanna get another cat. Right now I can't since I still live with my dad and stepmom. My dad HATES cats. My dad only accepted having cats because my stepmom had her before they met. Maybe one day I will get another cat. Who knows if I'll find one that I bond with as closely as I did with Yoda.

It's coming up to the year anniversary of her passing, and I just don't think I'll be able to do much that day without bursting out in tears every 5 minutes. I will visit her grave but I don't know if I'll want to go back in the house after that. I miss her more and more as each day passes. I never imagined there'd be a time when I'd no longer be able to cuddle her.... I don't think this heartbreak will ever be fully mended.

I so well understand, being a cat lover and cat owner myself. Please: seriously consider getting another cat. There are so many that need a loving, caring person...just as you need a loving, caring cat. Find your feline match.

I wonder if hugging a plush toy cat will help when you miss Yoda.

If you feel ready, rescuing another cat sounds like a great idea, as others have mentioned.

Today is the one year anniversary of Yoda's passing. I can't believe that it's been a whole year already. I still miss her like crazy. We had an amazing four years together, and it was the best four years that I'll never forget. Yoda's last moments were spent in my arms, and one day she'll once again cuddle in my arms and I'll never let go. No creature on earth could ever replace you, and the loving bond we shared will forever be infinite. I hope you're happily jumping from cloud to cloud and sliding down every rainbow you see. I love and miss you so much.

Rest In Peace my precious angel
