I suppose this might belong in the news forum, but thought it fit here too.

Recently a woman attempted to fly out of the Pittsburg airport with her dog. When told she had to place it in a carrier she tried claiming it as an emotional support animal. She was again told she had to put it in a carrier. Her solution? She abandoned the dog in the parking lot and flew away. Poor pup is being fostered by a local shelter. I hope the dog is not returned to her!

This hit two of my hot buttons. People who abandon animals should be taken out in the wilderness and left to fend for themselves. If you supposedly love the animal then be responsible and care for it.

My other complaint is people claiming their pet is an "emotional support animal" so they can take little fluffy or foofoo everywhere. I'm not denigrating real emotional support animals. They can be a boon for people who need them. I'm talking about those people who just can't stand to be away from their little bebe. Lately it seems every time I'm in the grocery store there is someone with a nasty tempered, barking, growling little shyte machine sitting in the seat of the buggy. People, leave your danmed animal at home! It will be happier and so will other shoppers.

@lizardlady I feel a gut check when I hear about cruelty to animals or people. Unfortunately some people see everything from their eyes only and they do not consider the pain or suffering to others. This behavior is also destructive to the person doing it because like doing anything that is wrong, it nags one's conscience until one finally makes some kind of restitution.

But as much as I am upset by cruelty, I do not wish them harm. They have already harmed themselves by their actions even if the consequences do not appear immediately. I do not know what you believe, but in physics every action has an equal and opposite reaction. In life it seems to work that way too.

CANDC, I believe what we put into the world comes back to you. Put good into the world and good will come back to you. Put out bad and it will come back. One problem is that we don't always get to see the results.

I will admit a flaw I have is that a part of me wants an eye for an eye when people especially kids, or animals are harmed

I am with you lizardlady. What goes around comes around is the street way of expressing it.

I used to want to punish the bullies but I now realize they are suffering just like me and making matters worse for themselves. What they are doing does not make for happiness. And I do not want to be miserable and upset hoping they will "get theirs" because I am miserable holding onto grudges. I know what they are doing is wrong but I am not going to make myself miserable waiting for their suffering to get worse than it is.

I do not let them off the hook. I let me off the hook of judging them. There is a big difference in my mind.

Leo flew back & forth with me from Calif to Ky several times.....but always had a crate for him & he got to fly under the pilot's area & the airline was wonderful about letting me know he had been loaded onto the flight safely. What really bugs me is that people know there are procedures & rules even having a vet check before flying & people just want to make their own rules to make them feel special. Follow the rules everyone else is required to follow because it is for everyone's safety including our pets. I dislike people who think they are above the rules & then end up abusing their pets because of their arrogant selfishness (& if I am there observing you can bet they will get a piece of my mind because I will not be silent about it & don't care if it bothers them or not) I have always been that way & not changing at 70.
