Got more and more depressed as the match went on…to be honest I don't really remember eating…the evidence was all those wrappers. Even when we seemed to be coming back into the game I would reach for a bar.

Very unhappy girl…disgusted with myself.

Was hoping Paddy's Weekend would cheer me up, especially with us playing today in Rome. First time the Italians beat us in the Six Nations. So, we got the Wooden Spoon.

If I had a wooden spoon now I would probably use it to eat some ice cream or chocolate.

Good example of emotional eating eh?

Where is the emotional part though?

If the problem is that you eat mindlessly while watching the TV, why cannot you stop watching the TV?

TV is optional; I do not have a TV and I do not have this problem.
So that part is completely solvable.

if you know you eat unhealthy stuff in excess when depressed, have you tried not buying the unhealthies in the first place, if they are not at hand, you won't be able to eat them! try stocking up on healthy snacks like dried seaweed, or popping corn, or simply chop up some cucumber, carrots and bell peppers into batons and nibble on those instead. i never keep chocolate or crisps in the house, that way if i want any i either have to go buy some or make crisps myself which is often enough to put me off the idea of wanting them! dried seaweed is great as you can eat loads and still only consume a hand full of calories but loads of iron and stuff thats good for you! chinese rice crackers are good too as they have only a few calories and give you the crunch that you sometimes crave!

hamster well, I meant my emotions went from okay to depressed while watching us play and hence the increased eating. Obviously, I realise it was mindless eating as in I was just stuffing my face with rubbish and not thinking or caring.

Sometimes, it's just a vicious cycle and some self-sabotage because I binge, feel disgusted and just then think… well I've eaten this much I may as well eat some more.

Of course it is logical to say…don't buy it and hence you can't eat it.

So, do I say to an alcoholic…well, don't buy any alcohol?

It's an addiction, like any other. I have many mental health issues and this is a co-morbidity to that.

In truth I am a little offended by the comment.

In addition, I am also on weight-gaining medication which further exacerbates the issue…

And as for not watching TV? It is one of my coping strategies i.e. distraction. I like TV, I like music…probably the only remaining things I can find some joy in.

I guess I should have just changed channels!
