Wondering if anyone else has this. I go to sleep at night, stay asleep for about an hour, then I wake up and eat everything in sight. Like an entire box of cereal, for example. This has been happening 12-18 months. Have gained an enormous amount of weight. Not sure if this is some sort of sleep-related disorder or if there's something else going on. Thoughts?

I also do this. I wake up in the middle of the night with food cravings I can't explain. I can't taste much during this time as the Seroquel I'm taking numbs my taste buds. But I still feel the urge to eat something. For some reason. I have also picked up weight and it feels like such a lost battle when I try control what I eat during the day and then just lose control in the middle of the night.

YES YES YES! I totally see where you are coming from. I also can restrict/control food cravings all day long, only to cave in from midnight onwards. The frightening thing is when I wake up I can't remember whether I DID raid the fridge or whether I DREMPT I'd raided the thing! So............I have to rush downstairs to check what's gone and whats still there. This may sound amusing but I can assure you it ABSOLUTELY is NOT funny. YES I SHARE YOUR FOOD ISSUES. HUGS and LOVE. XXXXX

I can relate so much to waggiedog!
I can do so well during the day. Getting my calories (empty ones) from my coffee creamer that I drink (coffee not cream) all day. Then I can get thru a decent dinner but as soon as I put kids in bed I start w/ the food & don't really notice how much I'm eating till I'm ready to go to bed. Then I'm pi$$ed off @ myself for eating.

Weight used to come off easily. Now I'm older & nothing is budging. I'm 30 lbs over so I asked for my nurse practitioner's help bec it effects my mood so much & adds to my depression. She said she'd help me but I think there's something else there that's causing this.
Like felixstratton said is there something else going on?

this has been the story of my life..at least for the past 4 years. when I was living at home everyone would always be mad at me, because all the food would be gone the next day, especially the cereal!!

I know that I definitely have NES.. I remember a couple times where I would wake up in the act of eating because it was so automatic.

its good to know that even though I'm a weirdo, at least some people out there understand me!! I just wish there was a realistic way to get help.

I wish I didn't, I'm so tired of being over weight but can't seem to sort my diet out.
