Hi! I'm new to this forum. I've been struggling with Binge Eating & other eating disorders for the majority of my life.
I used to binge daily, but have since reduced the frequency to once per week. Still, I know that I have an unhealthy relationship with food. I know that my triggers are boredom, anxiety, depression, waiting too long to eat, and having junk food in the house. Does anyone have any tips for how to lessen the frequency of my binges further? What kind of coping skills do y'all use? I would like to use painting and drawing as coping skills to avoid or lessen bingeing, but I find that I often use excuses. Any ways to get around these? Thanks in advance for any responses! |

I am still in the struggle, but 2 things I found that help occasionally are: Intermittent Fasting, and this article: Brain over Binge.
Also, I recently discovered that one of my meds: Oxcarbazepine, was causing my food addiction to be worse. It seems to wrap around the "eat" response, and just hover there with it on the "EAT" button, and I can graze and graze and graze non stop all day and night. My new Nurse Practitioner prescribed abilify, I pick it up this week. I am concerned and a bit angry that one of its side effects can be weight gain. I feel like she didn't listen to my opinion AT ALL.... but I will try this med and see. Good luck to you, and to us all. <3 |
