Anger!

My son has an extreme anger problem. He is a wonderful man. He hasn't gotten into trouble. He hasn't hit his wife. He just gets so angry and so suddenly he is just filled with anger sometimes over nothing at all. Most times over nothing at all. Is it because I told him the truth about his daddy raping me?

im sure there is more to it then your admission of his dad raping you. anger management is an inability to cope with emotions and stressors. there are programs designed specifically to deal with anger management. encourage him to go. take care

Are you saying he didn't have anger problems before you told about the rape? I suspect he already had an anger issue before you told him.

And I also, think an anger management class, but getting to him to go may be a problem. Unless he thinks something is wrong he is not going to want to go.

Anger management may be a good idea, but it is not always a cure or anything. I should know I went myself, sometimes the issues are complex. But abusive behavior towards others is not acceptable.

Is his father with you? I ask because I am wondering if your son is the result of the rape by someone who is not known to him. That would have a devastating effect, I think.

no, the father is not with me. I would not see him after he raped me but, he saw that I was 7 months pregnant and confronted me about it. my son did not know him but, met him when he was about 12. his father has since friended my son on facebook but, is not being a father to him. weird.

I asked the question because a close relative of mine has/had anger problems and used to trash his bedroom in anger, he doesn`t know his father, which used to make upset and angry, but I got him through that and has since seen a photo of his father on facebook, which helped in a way, I think it gave him a sort of focal point. However since then he has been angry and upset as he thinks his mother doesn`t like him and has rejected him(he has lived with me for eleven and a half years(he is 13 now). I am his grandad so it must have hurt not to be living with his mum like other kids. I am sorry for going on a bit and I don`t have any answers all I can say is do what I have done, remain calm and try to talk it through with him and I know it`s a cliche but be there for him, it will be worth it, well, good luck and take care, bye for now, Dionysius.
