Being nurtured in childhood can have its own specific drawbacks, so I have come to realise.
As some will know already, mine own childhood was some what less than nurturing, the specifics of this are not best suited in this thread. I have noticed the subtle yet destructive 'taught conceptions' of this worlds realities. How many of us have been taught that a roast dinner is a sunday thing? How many of us have been taught that mint sauce is for lamb, and that's it? How many of us have been taught that an abused individual is a dangerous individual? How many of us have been taught that we need to go to church in order that we may worship our higher being? How many of us have been taught that we are only beautiful if other people say we are? How many of us have been taught to believe that aliens visit earth? Even though Proxima Centauri (the nearest star to our sun) is 19,173,511,600,000 miles away, even though it would take 2million years to get to Andromeda (the nearest galaxy to our own) at the speed of light! How many of us have been taught to believe Earth in itself is a solid mass? Even though Earth's crust is as the shell to an egg! How many of us have been taught that silence is golden? When in fact, for the hearing abled, there is no such thing as silence! How many of us have been taught that to touch a thing is to know how it feels? Even though we never truly touch anything, for friction barrs atoms from contact, if it did not our atoms would merge with anything we have contact with! How many of us have been taught that water is wet? Even though 'to be wet' is an abstract concept, for water is nothing more than combined gases, creating bonded atoms which result in a liquid to our perception! How many of us have been taught that a green leaf is green? Even though it is not in actuality green, the leaf rejects the green spectrum of light, thusly causing the leaf to appear to our vision as being green! How many of us have been taught that there are such things as identical twins? Even though no two individuals can possibly be identical, not in their respective cellular selves! These and a million other concepts are perpetually crashing through my mind, creating a raging storm of clashing belief systems. These types of thought patterns are part of the reason for my being diagnosed as having a Borderline Personality Disorder. Does anyone else have such conflicting thoughts and notions twisting their heads in all directions? |

I have BPD and I tend too think about things very much in depth at times. Most of the time I question myself about events throughout my life and what is too come. Somethings for me are definitely conditioning from my childhood, some is good some not so good.
All in all I can relate. HUGS Cher
