I am bi polar and living with someone who is driving me crazy! He does not think he has a problem, but i need to know what someone else thinks. He Hates blacks, jews, police officers, kids, poor people, fat people, traffic, citys, shopping...you name it he hates it. he has to repeat every conversation he has word for word instead of just giving you the general rundown. He will repeat strange words three times changing them a little ever time. For instance, a few minutes ago it was hamburger, catburger, beefburger. He thinks everyone wants to steal from him and will not leave the garage unlocked while working in the backyard, nor will he leave the car unlocked if it willk take a few minutes bringing in groceries. Keeps the doors locked when he is awake and in the house. Complains about everthing...constantly. Throws out perfectly good food because it has been in the refridgerator for more than a day or two. I am at my wits end, is it him or me?

How can you live with someone who brings that much negativity into your life? I don't know what your contribution is, but it definitely sounds like he has major issues.

I have to stay until my Social Security Disability checks start. I won my case a month ago. I feel like I should try to help him, sice I have a disorder too, but I don't know if it is a mental disorder or if I am just letting it get to me because of my Bi polar disorder. I have never had to deal with a person who is so negative about everything and I am finding myself snapping at him more and more.

I'm on disability for bipolar disorder, too, so I understand your compassion toward someone who has his own issues. From what you're saying, though, it sounds like his behavior is having more impact on you than your thoughtfulness is having on him.

I'm guessing he doesn't see himself as being the one with the problem, which means he's not going to be motivated to change. And even if he were motivated to change, he really needs professional help to do it.

It's your choice, but it would be healthier for you to find more positive people to associate with.
