I have BPD. For the past 6 yrs I have been doing fairly well. Not as many symptoms showing and going through the motions of life pretty well. Not so much anymore. I had ankle surgery in January so I've been off work and on top of that my sleep is shot. Things have come back into my mind that I've shoved to the back. Last night I freaked out in front of a friend and embarrassed myself to death (great friend who tells me not to worry about it). I thought I had conquered BPD as I was told by I never realized so much stress could cause it to rear its ugly head again. So where do I go from here? Meds, T? I'm at a loss and never thought I'd be in this position again. UGH!!

I'm sorry you're suffering. Please take gentle care of yourself. Stress can do weird things to us. Sometimes we need doctor's help.

I'm going to call my doc on Monday and let her know what's been going on. I know this isn't healthy and I must make some good choices for me now. Thanks for the support!

I don't know if it is this way for you, but for me, I feel worse when I have less structure in my life.
So I'm wondering if your being off work and your sleep being disturbed might be affected you?

Lack of structure plus stress and demands that exceed my resources will do it for me too. T keeps telling me to cope. I guess that the need to cope probably never goes away. What do you feel would help you remember or learn better coping skills?

I'm not sure. I am looking into getting back into therapy once I can get back to work. I'm back on my meds and that has slowed my roll a bit for now.

I'd say you haven't back peddled as much as you feel you have as you are looking to make healthy choices for yoruself, something when in the worse of "our" PD's we dont seem to be able to do and are always looking for someone else to do that for us! Whatever has gone on for you recently I'd say your having a normal human reaction. Take care!
