I was mindlessly playing computer games yesterday evening, they relax me and take my mind off ME. A pop up for my email flashed up and all I caught was it was from my mother - we haven't had any contact in months - and something about "spread this all over facebook, email and twitter."

I was so triggered. First I go into that numb denial zone where I really don't even acknowledge to myself something has happened. Then I started shaking slightly, my heart banging away and felt like I couldn't breath. I was scared to death to read the email - thinking "what is she saying now!?"

False alarm, tg, it was one of her forwards about Oil. I just deleted it and did not read it. But what a bad reaction. Lasted for over an hour.

.....

I despise those random email things....especially when you get an unexpected mail from someone your not to interested in communicating with.

I'm glad you were able to move through it, but I know it's difficult.

Hope you have a good 4th of July and thanks for the pic on my profile page!! I love it!!

THANK GOD and I really mean that.

I broke ties with my mother in 1992.

So did two other of my sisters did.

And some of our kids saw her on their own and cut ties.
Thanks for this!

I hate it when that happens - I think you should give yourself a pat on the back for getting over it in an hour - is that an improvement? would it have taken you longer in the past? if so celebrate that ok.

I have a similar reaction when someone sends me a text and puts luv u at the end - you would think that if I never reply they would get the message... but hey - that life ay!

I hope you can do something really nice for you today to make up for your scare - take care P7

Unfortuantely it's not better for me, I'm getting worse. I'm hoping my PTSD acting up so acutely right now is just due to current family circumstances - a wedding and some other things. I'm hoping when these pass I'll settle back down. Right not it does not take much to trigger me at all! And my mother! You never know what's going to come out of her mouth, it would also be typical of her to "go nuts" now, right before the wedding and start trouble.

Messages and calls from "home" usually stress me out too. Not usually a panic attack, but I get depressed afterward and dread them. Why? Because something bad is happening over there 99% of the time. Ugh. Sorry you're feeling stressed. Sending you a virtual hypo-allergenic furry critter of your choice to be there with you until you feel better.
