I feel so lonely and frustrated right now. The wall of isolation that I've built around myself as a form of protection now is cutting me off of the human contact that I really need now. It makes me SO sad and unhappy. My fear keeps me in this lonely room I've built. I'm so tired of it.
Yes, I'm making attempts to get out of this situation and I do have some friends but still I doesn't seem like enough. Maybe in part it's because I'm on disability and don't have any real outlets because I have no job. I'm thinking I need to volunteer somewhere but so far I haven't much luck there. The places I want to volunteer at haven't worked out after repeated calls. So I feel really frustrated there.
Another thing I feel is sadness over all of this. I am really tired and yet I feel I must carry on even though I don't really want to right now.
Thanks for this!

You have come to the right place. We understand how that is here. Come on it, pull up a chair and sit right down. You are among people that know what you are going through and care. We understand the walls and the lonely room.

Have you searched local community services in your area. Around here the local churches run assistance, food banks and resale activities. My parents have been working at it for years and like the work. Maybe someone else has some ideas for you. Take care.

Yeah, I know all about the protective wall and how lonely it can get behind it. Being so uncomfortable with it will give you the drive to change that! So what exactly is happening when you contact these places for volunteering?

Thanks everyone for your supportive replies.
As for the volunteer thing I'm going to apply at a nearby foodbank. I know that will be a start in right direction. I have volunteer in the past and loved it. As for the rest I know I'll have to take slow baby steps; still its very lonely frustrating.

((((((Michele)))))))

I know what it is like with cutting yourself off to try and protect yourself and at the same time cutting off the support you need. I haven't quite figured it out about how to have a healthy balance. I hope your search for a volunteer position works out.

I tried the animal shelter thing twice to no avail. It makes me mad that it hasn't worked out. It not like I have no experience working with animals. In the past I've worked at shelters and animal hospitals both as a volunteer and as paid staff. Oh well, I guess I'll just care for my own animals.
