Could having PTSD trigger other illnesses into being? For instance when I had ptsd I started to get the symptoms of the schizoaffective.

yes is can. Example PTSD from hurricane katrina a person has nightmares and panic attacks of being back in it again. the person has trouble sleeping. lack of sleep leads to having sleep deprivation. symptoms of sleep deprivation includes having hallucinations of seeing and hearing things that are not there, delusional thoughts, Hallucinations (hearing voices, seeing things that aren't really there ) are a symptom of schizoaffective disorder

I don't think three years later PTSD is still causing me to have schizoaffective symptoms.

I agree with Vickie. It can cause symptoms. And I have also wondred if PTSD was some form of schitzoaffective because when I have olafactory (smells) hallucinations, body feelings (like my skin feels hot from the frire) and flashbacks is'nt that a form of schitzophrenia?

But it's kind of hard to tell if what I'm dealing with is from PTSD because it's not just one event. I was brain washed into thinking everyone was trying to kill me or was after me in some way also me and a friend were almost killed.
I experience severe delusions and not all the time related to conspiracy theories that people are trying to kill me. Sometimes it's crazy **** like I'm being abducted by aliens or demons are in my mirrors. When I see and hear things it has nothing to do with my trauma. Well sometimes I hear people talking and they're plotting to kill me or attack me or something but I never think it has anything to do with what happened to me.
I only expericed one flash back which caused me to black out and I was pulled completely into the past but after that I really felt like it was lifted off my shoulders. I knew I had ptsd then but I really don't know what to think now...

Yeah I don't know if that is PTSD or not. It does'nt sound like it with my experiance with it. Have you talked to your doctor? I know when my PTSD is flaring up, I get paranoid but not very bad. I hope you figure it out.

I agree with thunderbear. Your professional helpers perhaps should listen to what you are telling us and reevaluate what is going on. You need to find some relief from all that is. Good luck!

I have heard of triggering events that can cause a person to believe that they are re-living the event. This is common. What you are describing seems almost like this, but unrelated to the event. I have not heard about this.
