I have a horrible headache right now. I think it's brought on by stress and anxiety....I get these headaches quite often. It's just super annoying. Why do I have to have this somatic reaction to stress? UGHHHHHHH!

Does anyone else get headaches from stress? I'm going to see my therapist tomorrow so I hope it gets better.

I'm stressed about possibly losing my job....theres just so many things going on in my life right now it seems. GAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, I used to, too. Work on relaxation methods that work for you... and at least "check" your body for tense muscles... especially the jaw and neck (because of the headaches.)

PTSD carries some dissociative qualities as well, are you forgetting what you do for a period of time after your headaches?

Well my headaches sometimes last all day (like today).

I think I need to learn more about dissociation, because I think I somewhat do it. I never completely leave and totally don't remember whats going on or things....but a lot of times I do feel slightly detached from the things going on around me...and some what "out of it". what is dissociation exactly?

Dissociation: In psychology and psychiatry, a perceived detachment of the mind from the emotional state or even from the body. Dissociation is characterized by a sense of the world as a dreamlike or unreal place and may be accompanied by poor memory of the specific events, which in severe form is known as dissociative amnesia.

The term dissociation refers to the act of separating or the state of being separated.

Well, stress chemicals can cause headaches all by themselves... but I'd keep track of foods too or the like, to make sure it isn't irritated by allergies.

I get horrible migraines from stress. It's a common trigger for migraine headaches. Have you tried any prescription medication? I take Maxalt for mine. It usually works to alleviate the pain for me.

Prevention, is of course, key. All doctors will jump to tell you that line. Exercise works very well on my stress tolerance. I do exercise regularly, which helps me.

Best wishes to you!
