Today I was told a diagnosis by T of PTSD which was unknown to me before this time. I struggle to accept this and wondered if anyone had aome tips. I have had lots of trauma from a very young age in my life so I dont doubt she is right...but embracing/accepting the dx today has been extremely difficult. I am shaky and breathing is difficult though not too terribly so. I guess I am going to call it a night and hope Im feeling a little better in the AM.

It is hard to accept that there may be a problem that is bit too big for you to solve yourself. I am a bit of a do it yourselfer also.
From the sound of things you are possibly having a panic attack about it. It can be scary, but once you learn about it and understand what things like triggers are it gets better because knowledge gives you power and power gives you some control.

The diagnosis doesn't define you. And I would think after doing some basic research of this, I'll say condition, I wouldn't be surprised if you don't start seeing the symptoms.

For me, I relieved to put a reason behind feeling like I've been shot when I hear loud noises. Or if someone walks around a corner or seemingly pop out of no where, again, I feel like I've been shot. Also, I physically shutter for a moment and it takes awhile to realize I'm ok.

Also, I've always had recurrent thought that would build up to a panic attack. Plus, my aggression and impulsive striking of my self if I'm taking into too much pressure.

Ive been like this since as long as I can remember. I didn't complain because I'm used to this. Been going on since grade school.

So, don't feel like your life is going to change. Your T just finally recognized all the signs together add up to PTSD. It may help them more effectively address your issues and find more effective game plan.
Thanks for this!
