The person who attacked me in January has upset me again. I have been advised that he is a true psychopath and it will never be ok for me to press charges against him. The professionals say he will hunt me down when he gets out if I put him in jail and that I will never, ever know safety. I'm being backed into a corner though and may not have a way out. I can't just run away...

Please send me your good wishes, vibes, prayers or whatever you do to send good things to your friends. I am only now exhibiting some healing of my brain trauma from where he hit me and here I go again with more of his drama.

What prevents this person from hurting you again if he doesn't go away?

You need to contact some other professionals. here in the USA the police say that regardless of who and why a person who is a psychopath - serial stalker, abuser needs to be in prison not out on the streets and when there is a danger the person is put into protective programs given new identites and moved to other areas preventing their being found. I know this to be true because I have been relocated and so on on more than one occasion through protection type agencies.

The USA have fantastic witness protection agencies, Domestic Violence and crisis center agencys that specifically deal with relocating and and so on of at risk of danger for any situations be it domestic violence, assault, testifying in court and so on. And the branches are nation wide.

My suggestion go to your local Domestic Violence agency and tell them you want to prosecute and want everything set up to relocate you right from court testifying. They will co ordinate with you so that you testify and go right into a shelter in another town miles away or even states away. You will not be able to use your credit cards and so on. they will help you set up with a new social security number and so on.

Jan, ditto, there are so many resources for people with your experience to hide. However, I do understand your primary concern is about your mom and brother. Be safe. You know, this is against my normal beliefs but I hope he meets with natural consequences so you have less fear. Please be careful.

Thank you so very much. I just can't imagine leaving my 82 year old Mother. She drives me nuts, but she's still my Mom. I don't want to leave my Pdoc and counselor. I don't know who I need most, them or my Mom. Isn't that awful??????????

Please don't anyone think I am too lazy to write to you individually. I am always so afraid I'll accidentally skip someone and hurt her/his feelings so I write ((((((( Friends ))))))))) instead. I did that one time and don't want to chance doing it again.

On a good note, I made it to church tonight. My panic has been on a high level, so I'm really happy that I was able to make myself go.

I am aghast that this is their solution i.e. not to press charges. Nowadays, it seems that 'criminals' can get away with anything, get more help and support etc. than the persons they hurt.

Isn't there anything you could do to ensure that person is locked for good. Surely, there must be some laws that actually protect people....? Sorry for what you are going through though, it must not be easy at all.

Have you talked to your T about this? What does he/she think can be done about this.

Can you get a personal alarm or bleeper to carry with you, so that you feel safer?

I know what you mean. I've been "stalked" by someone who was in law enforcement.... with noone to run to for help. I learned self defense and later firearm safety.

It's not a good feeling at all to fear. It's a worse feeling when that fear is founded in a bit of truth.

But if this guy messed with you before, what keeps him away? I'd be sleeping with a butcher knife under my pillow, out of fear?

Definitely a therapy issue.
